It's a wee bit early but knowing that Charon will be off the computer on Gayle's upcoming ampuversary date of February 17th, I thought tonight I would post this early.  This date would have marked her two year ampuversary and also her journey with us here on tripawds.

I know the past two months without her have been difficult, as they are for all of us –  but she will never be forgotten.  In addition, this month on the 21st marks the one year anniversary of Charon losing her Jane of 15 years.  As we all know, the "firsts" can be hard.

Charon, I hope this video touches your heart and says all the words you felt for Gayle.  As you said to me, she brought us together and for that I forever grateful.  A true sister I've never had.

This is for you.

Her Retired AvatarComet - 1999 to 2011

She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.

She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

thanks so much ge'lena.  gayle was my hero, and i miss her terribly.

i was blessed to have both of my sisters in my life for many happy years.  jane was fifteen and gayle was almost twelve, when they passed.  the journey we take is full of challenges and surprises, i'm glad gayle brought us together.  i'm sure my two sisters are hanging with comet and rugby, holding court and taking names.  love never ends.

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included).  She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.

I can't see a video, just a big, white box--however, I want to say this to Charon:

You loved Jane and Gayle so very much. Jane was the first dog to pass away (that I was aware of) after I joined Tripawds. I'd been here about 2 weeks when she passed, and I remember being bowled over by the support, love and empathy that poured out to you at the time. I used that as a benchmark for how loving this community must be, and I was right. Charon, you are a large part of why this community turned out to be so supportive and loving. I didn't know you then, but now that I do I can see that it all came back to you when you needed it. You helped create it with your loving support.

I miss Gayle's presence here. I regret deeply that I will not get to see her, because we pass through your neck of the woods every so often and it would have been possible. I know you gave both Jane and Gayle the best love and they would thank you for their time with you if they could. I look forward to seeing what the new crew does. It won't be the same, for sure, but different isn't necessarily bad. This is just a different fork down the same road, and the scenery can be just as astoundingly beautiful in a much different way.

A beautiful tribute to a true hero of ours.

Jackie, Angel Abby & MBBunny Rita's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Oh wow. I love this video, thanks Comet! I hadn't seen some of those pics. Gayle always had a puppyish look to her pretty face, didn't she? Even as she matured, she was always had the bright eyes of a gal much younger than her actual years (must run in the family, eh Charon?).

It's hard to believe it's been two years for Gayle's ampuversary and nearly a year after Jayne's passing. I have to apologize for being so bad with dates Charon, this one snuck up on me. Despite my bad short-term memory, I want you to know how much we loved your sisters, and always will. We also appreciate your sticking by and supporting everyone in this community even as you faced such tough times in your life and coped with such heartbreaking losses. That's not an easy thing to do. You are so giving and generous, we are forever grateful. Thank you.

Beautiful, touching video (well done Comet).  Gayle is the eternal puppy; such a sweet girl.  I didn't realize you'd lost Jayne last year as well. I followed Gayle's courageous battle, but Jayne slipped under my radar.  A very tough week for you; I'm thinking of you.

not wanting to get mushy (cause of course we monkeydogs are NOT MUSHY), but if you had to have a tripawd sister, i think gayle was the best ever.  i miss her terribly myself (off the record) and wonder if my sis, felony melanie, can ever be the perfect black sister gayle was...  hope springs eternal.

miss you sister!

Charon,

When I joined this site and started Zeus' blog (unaware at the time about the forums) you were the first one to comment and welcome me to this community.  You have no idea how much it meant to me to see that first comment and to know that someone out there actually cared what we were going through.  You have constantly provided encouragement and support, even though you were facing difficult times of your own.  That means the world to us and it says so much about your wonderful heart and spirit.  Gayle would be proud.  I am happy that I had a chance to "know" her and I hope you know that I will never, ever forget her.  She was a beautiful baby and her spirit continues to shine in all of our lives.  Hugs to you during a hard week.

Lisa

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...
