I was going to wait and post something on Tuesday, the 10th, which will be the 6 month mark of having lost our girl - but I heard today is "National Kissing Day" so I had to find the video Ge' made us and cry my way through it.

(Urgh. I can't seem to embed the video for some reason - but here's the link to it on YouTube.)

I was thinking about Abby a lot today before I even heard about the kissing connection. First of all, a woman invited me to enter a contest on her blog and tell others about it (you can read about it here and enter your own dog as well). It's for destructive dogs to win a toy called an "UnbreakOBall". Since Rita is not very destructive, I entered Abby, and the woman turned her story with Barney into a really cute entry. (You can link to it and to the entry form from my blog link above.) Anyway, I was thinking about my girl and looking at pictures of her a lot because of that.

Then today at Fiesta Island, we ran into Enzo -- Abby loved Enzo. He was one of only 2 dogs that Abby still liked to wrestle with post-amp. They would play like crazy every time they saw each other. We hadn't seen Enzo since we lost Abby, and I wasn't sure Enzo's mom would recognize me without Abby, but she did. I told Rita that Enzo was her big angel sister's friend, and she had a very good time playing with him. Wish I'd had my camera there. Abby Loves Enzo

I sure miss my beautiful girl. Oh, how I'd love to get a kiss from her on National Kissing Day. (I'll try my darndest to get one out of Rita - but she's not much for kissing...)

Kiss your pups for me today.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Jackie, thanks for sharing these sweet stories about Abby. She was a special girl and is missed by so many. We're thinking about you all...and giving Brady extra kisses today. (He doesn't mind the kisses, but isn't as generous as Bo was... Bo was a sloppy, slobbery kisser!)

Six months? Wow. Time goes way too fast.

Some days the sadness just comes flowing back, especially when certain events trigger memories of the good times. But you know, I think all of these signals are a message from Abby telling you that everything is OK at the Bridge. Don't worry Ma, she's with the Angel Tripawds now, having a ball on the best dog beach in the universe!

Awww, Travis, you are so sweet! I *know* she's coming and sneaking kisses to you while you are dreaming!

And your Mom is very wise. I'll definitely fit some naps in this weekend. 🙂

These are the anniversaries we'd rather not come along.  I watched the video with lots of tears.  She really was a good kisser!!!  We have some great ones of Magnum kissing us but we look too scrappy in them to share them outside the family (you know the ones, those morning kisses where we are still in pyjamas with our hair all over the place looking like something the cat dragged in).  Only furry animals can wake up in the morning and be as beautiful as they were when they went to sleep.

I hope the day is not too painful and that you can also enjoy some happy memories of your very special girl.

I have no pups to kiss at the moment but I'll see if I can find a dog on the street to kiss for Abby.

Lots of hugs.

Karen and Spirit Magnum

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/

Now that Chloe is home with me, I have been hugging her practically non stop and snuggling her face like crazy. She probably thinks I am being a little over the top. But she endures my strange behaviors. And gives me kisses even though she had a not so fun time at the vet today.

Thanks for being a supportive pawson here at tripawds.  I know we all appreciate it.

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog

6 months...well, it's still so fresh at 6 months.  But gosh, Abby sure brought a lot of smiles to a lot of us and I love reflecting on those memories of her.  We sure had some fun!

I bet if you are really quiet, you'll feel her kisses.  I'm sure they are still there.

MBRocket says he'll be happy to give so some of his annoying kisses.....as long as he can climb in your lap so you can't get away!!

I think those are the best pictures!  Seriously!  I know I wouldn't show some of mine but there is one of Jackie without any makeup and Abby sleeping together and I think it is one of the best ones ever!  It's just so real.

Ohhhh, what a beautiful video!  Such an amazing, loving dog....and so loved in return.  What a wonderful life you gave her, though it was so unfairly shortened.

Time is such a paradox - it may help some with the pain, but each day we move forward is another day we move away from them, and it's awful.

Thank you for sharing what you're going through with those of us who are following behind you.  I would like to think that Abby is showing Holly the ropes up there, and helping her to find the best beaches where they can run.

Jackie, *HUGS*! I know you miss her so much. What a great video though. Does anyone know if there is any place where all the videos and songs are compiled on this site? I would love to see all the songs for the soundtracks and all the videos people have made and posted.

Oh, I miss Abby so very much, too!  She had so much spirit and spunk, and was such a huge personality!  She definitely packed a lot of living into her short life, and I'm sure she's keeping all the boys busy even now!

The 20th will be six months for us, too, and just typing that gives me a huge lump in my throat and a burning in my eyes...  But I know Rio and Abby are having a blast -- I just wish that I be there to watch them play.

Oh, Jackie.  I miss her, too.  You know that she is our beacon of hope in this journey because of the similarities with the mets.  She lives on in the hope that she gives to those of us still on this journey.  Well, that and because she was so flippin cute that she is unforgettable.  Peace and hugs to you.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11.  A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...
