or maybe anniversaries marking things we didn't know know we'd voted into such status?

Raking leaves over the long weekend and I realized some of said leaves were last year's that I never dealt with. Thanksgiving weekend last year I tend to think of as beginning of the end. I took her for a walk (short of course) and could see she was wobbly. Didn't know if it was her back or (in hindsight) the beginning of the oseto in her other leg. All of this of course generated a bit of a meltdown.

A friend made this beautiful tribute stone for Isa, sent it to me a couple of weeks ago. (yes, I need to post a picture). I had it on the kitchen counter but had to move it. Just too hard seeing her smile so often.

So since it is "Giving Tuesday" (whatever that is), I made a donation in her name to Kindred Spirits.  This is the same place that Isa's daycare donated to earlier this year.

Just waving to the group - not drowning, just sad.

*waving back* Sounds like we are in the same boat. Last Thanksgiving I ran up a hill with Mosby and when we reached the top he wasn't walking on his right hind. Which led to the misdiagnosis and then a Christmas diagnosis of osteo. Amputation was 12/22, so I don't even remember last Christmas. Anyway, it's all led to a very weird and sad holiday season, looking back and thinking about losing Mosby and what I might have done differently if I could rewind a year.

Like you, I'm not drowning, just sad. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Same boat here!  Holding on, but you know.  Cassie has kept us busy .... she doesn't walk very much anymore.  Her arthritis & bulging discs are making that more & more difficult for her and it seems as though no matter what therapy we throw at it, it's not slowing down.  Mostly she walks with her front legs while we hold up her back end with her harness.  Maybe all of this keeps us from missing Murphy more?  But today was one of those days he would have just loved!!!  64, sunny, breezy ... he would have laid outside all day!

sigh

Hugs to you both!

Just in case anyone goes from "just waving" to drowning, remember we are all here to throw a lifeline to each other.

May all the happy memories that we did get to share with our furbabies come to the forefront and make us smile.  That's what they would wantheart

Love to all

PS. Donna, give that sweet Cassie an extra treat for me...the ones that belong in the "junk food category". When I lurk on facebooger, the pictures you post of Cooper and Cassies together...so sweetheart

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Sometimes just floating is what we have to do to keep from drowning.  We are here for those who feel like floating or drowning and throwing out that lifeline.  Don't forget we have the Tripawds hotline it's not just for new folks its for everyone.  Or if you don't feel like you can call the helpline send a PM and i will send my phone number.  I am here for you all.

I know I spent many many days waving to drowning and back again.  Sometimes those days happen now but not so much.  (not saying I don't miss my girl).

I agree with Sally may all the happy memories make us smile through the waving sad moments

Beautifully said and what a wonderful image Sally, thank you so much for that!

Thanks all, I appreciate it.

I didn't realize Mosby's amp was so close to Christmas last year, that had to be hard on you. I was pretty deep into it last Christmas, probably why I don't recall much of what went on here.

I don't know how the rest of the holidays will play out for me, I have enough preexisting Christmas issues that it may not make much difference overall. One can hope.

The waving to drowning to waving cycle can certainly be short. I am, overall, better than I was. I truly appreciate the offer of the helpline - I will confess to believing it best left to "active" members. When all else fails, I have been known to call Sally directly.

I do need to spend some time with my happy memories, excellent suggestion!

And there is the fact that Roxy is *ahem* an excellent (and active) distraction. big-grin

love and hugs

Here's the above-mentioned "stone" my friend made for me - it was broken in transit and the glue lines are far more obvious in the photo than in real life. Definitely a treasure.

That is indeed a treasure!! We have been looking to get a portrait commissioned of Mosby, but need to pick the perfect photo. I'm going to give it to Chris as a surprise.

Thanks for all the nice words, everyone. It is going to be a tough holiday season (finding it difficult to put up the tree, for instance), BUT one of the other reasons that everything is feeling bittersweet is that we have a special arrival coming on December 8th, just a week away. Aspen, a 6 month old black lab. I am excited, but there is this bittersweet feeling of missing Mosby plus the sadness of remembering this time last year. I know that Aspen will keep us distracted and happy once he arrives, though! He is a sweet little rascal and very willing to please. I'm not sure I'm 100% ready for a new dog, but my husband is, so it was important to me that we found the right dog to help heal his broken heart.

OOOOO!! Puppy alert!!

I didn't know if I was ready for a new dog either - for that matter I wasn't convinced that I ever would be - but it was time for Roxy to have a new home and I felt lighter and better (almost) instantly.

So the puppy is for the hubs, but I doubt there is anything cuter on the planet than a six-month old puppy. I pretty much guarantee that he will help you as well. How could he not!?

I also guarantee that you will continue to miss Mosby - again, how could you not?

Sending you massive hugs. We're all here for you. Get your tree up, I'm guessing the hubs will appreciate it.

Waiting breathlessly for pictures!!!

love

Teri

Got the tree up and got a start on Christmas decorations. Bittersweet moment came when I got the stockings out and came across Mosby's stocking. Not sure what to do about it. But got Aspen a stocking today, and a ridiculous amount of toys. :/ 6 days! And plenty of work to distract me until then (whether that's good or bad remains to be seen, but the billable hour is my higher power so I guess I'll think of it as good). 🙂
