I took her to the Vet on Weds. AM, blood work looked good, cancer was in the back of all of our minds but we tried a shotgun approach to rule out other things. She was drastically better on Thursday, but Friday she was sliding backwards. Monday AM we took lung x-rays and she had 10 mets, one was the size of a silver dollar. Our vet was surprised by the aggressiveness of this development. The appointment was made for today. So I brought her home, one more bone in the snow, cheeseburger for dinner and ice cream for desert. And as a family spent the night petting her. About 2:00 AM I awoke to painting a restlessness, at 2:30 I gave 200 mg of Tramdole and spent the night on the floor calming her. She was doing better this AM which was nice, happier memories.

Oh Supai. Oh Shaun and family. I was so surprised to see this sad news. Of course I thought Supai would be going strong for a long time. She was doing so well just last week! Take care at this time and I hope you will enjoy your happy memories of Supai with 4 and also with 3 legs.

Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.

You gave Supai a chance at a longer, pain free life, but there is just no way to tell how much time we will get. You did your best for her, and in the end did the unselfish thing and set her free.
I hope your happy memories will ease the pain a bit.

I am so so sorry for your lose. Supai was such a beautiful girl and the love you shared was so evident in your posts. Like so many others I was very surprised and saddened to read your post. Please know that I am praying for you.

Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
Oh Shaun....reading your post now made me cry!! I know how hard it is. Not so much to take the steps to set her free, it is what we do when we love someone so greatly, but the part about how much you will miss your sweet Supai!!
You were mutually blessed, she with a loving family and you by her sweet spirit. Take good care.

This is a sad day here at Tripawds, we are so surprised and very, very sorry. We hope that you find some comfort in the brave deicsion you made which allows her to run pain-free with us Spirit Tripawds, while watching over all of the silly humans on earth. Keep an eye out, I'll bet she'll send you some signs that she's still by your side.
Supai's courage will live on to inspire others for a long time, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your journey with us. May your hearts find solace in the memories you shared.

I was shocked when I read your post! I thought that Supai was doing so well... I am sooooo sorry for your loss. I'm crying with you right now...
My Jake only made it till 7.5 weeks past his amputation... I thought he'd be around for much longer too... I know how devasted you must feel right now... It's so not fair!!!! 
Supai is at peace now... and running on all 4 legs... pain free!!! I hope that my Jake is waiting at the rainbow bridge to welcome Supai... I am so sorry for your loss!!!!

Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Dear Shaun and family: We're so very sorry to read this sad news. We too were shocked. Supai seemed to be doing so well. She's a gorgeous girl and clearly loved her life. We're originally from Vermont so we could clearly see her running through the woods and playing in the snow in beautiful New Hampshire.
It sounds like you had a special if heartbreaking last few days together. What a good life Supai had!
She's your guardian angel now. She's running free with all our Tripawd heroes.

Spirit Supai, that was very brave of you to let your family know you were ready to start the next leg (pun intended) of your journey! Sometimes it is very hard to say goodbye, and it is only because you were loved so much that you were able to go before you started feeling a whole lot worse. How lucky you were to get a cheeseburger and ice cream! Wow! Thanks for being a super dog, Supai - you gave us all something to smile about. Say hello to all our other doggie friends that went before you, and greet the others that come to visit with a wagging tail and a field full of tennis balls.
