Hi Dawn and Jake's mum,

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I have been having connection problems at home, apologies for the delayed reply.

The vet visit was difficult initially; going without Titus seemed so quiet when he used to perform tricks just for biscuits and there were always technicians running back out to give them to him. Dr Miles was great discussing the last few weeks when Titus lost his appetite + diarrhea, then went back in again for an abscess in his remaining hind paw, to the last visit when he was hesitant to walk with some fluid build up in his abdomen/(and lungs?).

He has no doubt the tumors are in his other organs mainly the liver and abdomen and probably in his hind leg. However since Titus was playing and eating to the end, he pointed out that Titus was not in pain, and that the growths in his lungs depleted his body of oxygen and thus causing organs to shut down in the end.

We agreed no matter what we had found the last week, there was nothing much we could do and it was nice to spare Titus the last needles and pills. The most comforting words he said to me was that he knows Titus was a very happy dog throughout his fight. He also adviced that the full treatment for cancer consists of not only science and drugs, but also happiness. He said we have fulfilled and succeeded that with Titus. It made me smile.

I hope all of you too find comfort in knowing you are doing/have done your best in keeping our poochies happy and loved through the ups and downs. It was the downs that made Titus more special to me.

Big hugs to all of you,

Carol
