Carol and Spirit Titus,

My words cannot express how sorry we ae to hear that Titus has passed over, but would hope that you can accept our deepest sympathy at this time. Everyone's comments above are so appropriate for this extremely brave warrior and to you for all that you did to help Titus during his fight. Your story is a fitting tribute to the love that the two of you shared and that love will continue even now. I know how difficult it was to come to this decision, but you did everything possible including allowing Titus to pass over with the dignity that he deserved. Bless you for having that courage yourself.

I am fond of saying that you will never be totally without Titus for the gifts that he gave you will live with you forever. As Jerry stated to eloquently, praying for the time that you will be able to remember Titus with a smile and not just that canyon of a hole that now fills your soul. It will come!

Dear Carol,

I'm so sad to read your post.  You are in my thoughts and prayers, and in my heart at this difficult time.  Titus was so brave, and it was a gift that he chose his own time.  You were an awesome pawrent to him, and I hope that the love you shared will help you through.  We are all here for you...

Sending lots of hugs,

Carol,

I am so sorry to hear the news about Titus' passing and know how difficult and painful this is for you.  Please take comfort in knowing that Titus is still with you and will always be with you.  Like you said, he chose this time and like others have said, he lifted the burden from you having to make that decision for him - a blessing for sure.  My heart goes out to you.  Please take good care and know that you did everything for Titus.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

I'm so sorry to read about Titus passing.  It always seems to tug at the heartstrings a little more when I see it is another Rottweiler.  Harley, also, died at home on the day we decided to have him put to sleep.  You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.

I am so sorry to hear about Titus.  I know that it hurts that you didn't say good-bye... but don't beat yourself up about that.  Your baby knew that you loved him.  You shared such a strong connection, and that is what is important.  My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

You guys have been so comforting. I hate to know that some of you have gone through this and others fighting this. Its been 3 days and my heart hasn't stopped breaking. Titus was cremated the same evening he passed, and his ashes now sit in my room in a beautiful deep blue urn. I talk to him and still have his pillow at the foot of my bed where he always laid.

Tears dont seem to stop everytime i'm alone, before bedtime and when i wake up. It's been raining since early Friday morning, I want to think that the angels are crying with me for the loss of a beloved companion. I hope Titus has found all the other tripawd angels across that bridge.

Having been with Titus 1/3 of my life while I was alone in the US made me especially reliant on him for bringing joy and keeping me safe with his positivity and steady personality. The gaping hole in my heart is still aching so very much, and i look forward to smiling again with his memories.

I will forever honor him by reaching out to other dogs in the cancer world, and all that he's taught me to live life the way we always did.

Oh Carol, I am crying with you as I read your words.  I spoke them all myself a few months back when Raven, my rottie, died.  Like you, he was perky and bouncy in the end, but his body gave out and he had a blood clot paralyze his hind legs.  He couldn't get up, but would wag and eat everything and licked all our faces when the vet arrived.  My world came crashing in on me for quite awhile trying to adjust to my New Normal without him in my life.  The people on this forum are a comfort since I think sometimes they are the only ones that truly understand what we all go through with this sucky disease.  It's you that is hurting now, not Titus, so try to take care of yourself through this very difficult time.  Feel free to vent and share with us when you are able.

Hugs,

Dawn

Carol, I'm so sorry to hear about Titus.  I've been on vacation and just got back today.  I have 3 spirit dogs and 2 of them crossed over the bridge at home. It's so heart wrenching, but I do know that time dulls the ache, but the happy memories stay vivid. You are an awesome mom, and Titus is now an awesome spirit.

Lisa

Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end.  On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Hi guys,

It seems a little easier everyday as i grieve for the loss of Titus. Tomorrow is the day I meet with our vet (Dr. Miles whom i have not contacted or vice versa since Titus' passing).

I've requested to pick up the copy of Titus' complete medical records as well as scans, however the receptionist told me they charge for the number of pages and I can only borrow the xrays for a deposit of $50. Titus has a thick file no doubt but I am just wondering if anyone of you have done the same or needed some closure with the vet after?

I can't think of what to ask and I know there shouldn't be looking back at what ifs or buts. I know Dr Miles is attached to Titus too and would love to see the last moments in pictures and videos playing and barking for treats.

I'm still not adjusted to my new normal and it seems that guilt overrides me when i realise i wasn't thinking of Titus enough. Silly i know, and i'll stop rambling now.

Thanks for reading, bless your hearts for being all the way supportive since the start of my journey here with Titus.

Hey Carol,

I am so sorry to read of your loss. You first posted while I didn't have access to a computer, so I am delayed in responding to you. Each day will get slightly easier (I keep telling myself that too), and coming to Tripawds is a great way to vent & express yourself. As Dawn mentioned, Titus is no longer in pain - but you are. Take care of yourself - allow yourself plenty of time to grieve. You honor Titus when you do. Your heart will be filled with many happy memories in no time, as Titus will always be with you.

Sending you a big hug!

Cathy
