We are heartbroken to report that our sweet Ginger has lost her battle with cancer.  We said goodbye to our sweet Tripawd Warrior Princess on February 4, 2013, and have been too sad to report before now.  As sad as we are, we find solace in knowing that Ginger was one of the lucky ones.  She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in March of 2010 and had her back right leg amputated on April 15, 2010.  She was cancer free for nearly 2 & 1/2 years before the cancer reared its ugly head again in her front right leg in September, 2012.  She fought it hard again with radiation and bone strengthening treatments but this stupid disease finally took its toll.  She lived 12 & 1/2 years and survived a long time after her diagnosis.  We are very sad but wanted to let you all know of her passing.

Brian & Annie

Here are some of our favorite pictures of Ginger that we wanted to share.

Check out her blog at http://dlanckto.....ipawds.com for more pictures and stores about Ginger, including her adventures with Barney.

What a darling face!  And what a fighter!  Wow, 2.5 years past the initial diagnosis.  That's amazing.  It's pups like yours that give us the courage to fight our own, but similar battle.  It's abundantly clear she lived one of the best lives and was immensely loved, right to the end when you freed her of her pain.  Run free, Ginger.  We'll miss you, but know you've also left quite a wake....  Run free!!

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Ginger was such a gorgeous girl with a beautiful smile. She was lucky to have such a wonderful family who understood that the dog gets first pick of the furniture!

Saying goodbye is the hardest thing.  No matter how long you have with them it is never enough.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss.  What a sweet face Ginger has.  Ginger was a true fighter and I'm so happy that you had so many wonderful years with her after her diagnosis.  Ginger will continue to live on here as she will bring so much inspiration to those who are just beginning their journey.  Its the hardest thing having to say goodbye. Know that Ginger will always be in your heart and that she will always be watching over you.

Annie and Brian,
I'm so sorry to hear your news. Ginger is an inspiration to all those on the cancer journey as a long time survivor and warrior princess. I hope the good memories you built as a family are helping to dampen the pain of loss just a little.
Ginger will always live in your heart and so will always be by your side.

I remember you and Ginger greeting Bud at the beginning of our journey ans his diet. You said something about her not liking the vet calling her chunky monkey because of the monkey part. LOL

I sure did enjoy all of the "legal pants" humor she brought to forums!

I am sincerely sorry for your heart ache but know that these golden spirits are sooo worth the missing later!

Heart healing wishes to you both...fly high angel Ginger!

So sorry , so very very sorry to hear about your loss. The pictures you posted showed what a shining light she was ---and no amount of darkness can ever dim such a bright light.

My favorite picture----Ginger in the chair and you two sitting beneath her on the floor --as it should be!,

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

I am so sorry for your loss.  Nothing ever seems right to say in this kind of post. Ginger knows you loved her and will be watching down on you from the Rainbow Bridge.

Brian and Annie,

I saw this in your blog and was so sad, because Ginger brought such hope to so many here. But she still will, as she lived more than two years and thumbed her nose at a lousy prognosis and because she got to become a senior with a gray face. Isn't that what we all say we want for our companions?

I will miss Ginger's sophistication and proper manners. I know you are missing her very much. I hope your memories help and I hope she checks in on you now and then. Of course, she may be awfully busy playing over the bridge since she has so many fine friends to meet there.

So sorry for your loss.  Ginger carries on in your heart.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
