Dearest Shelby Lynne.... your mama misses you SOOOO very much! How has it been four months already? It seems longer and shorter all the same ... the grief pain is still pretty intense (especially around these anniversaries). This time last year, we were blissfully unaware of your cancer ... just dealing with your recovery from your mysterious broken leg.Your fur was starting to come back in! That face. Always smiling. Always happy.

I appreciate your sending me Jasper to help me smile more and cry less. I still miss YOU. You are still the LOVE OF MY LIFE. And Jasper will never ever replace you in my heart ... she tries so hard to be loved but I think even she knows that she will always be second in my heart and she's ok with that. And I hope you are too. I miss you baby girl... more than words will ever say ... until we meet again, my Shelby, I love you to the moon and back and for all infinity.

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

My Dear.Alison.....we all miss her too...and we love.her.sooooo much.

Looking at her picture and reading your post through tears, I still smile at her WONDERFUL photos.and the deep loving bond the two of you have!

Try and step into her peace today, her blissfully contented peace. She wants you to know how pleased, so very, very pleased she.is to have you in her life. Shelby treasures your time and carries that with her...you have never left her side, just as she.has never left yours.

I'm.not sure what Shelby and Jasper have up teir little doggy sleeves today...but I've got a feeling Shelby is going to make Jasper be extra silly today so she can see you smile. Shelby loves it when you smile.

Sending extra love.and hugs today Sweet Alison...

We miss you too Shelby! I love seeing your pretty photos.

It's weird how time means everything when an anniversary rolls on by, but means nothing when you step back and look at the big picture; that's because true love is eternal.

You are loved, truly, precious girl.

Awe ... thank you guys... you are always so kind and understanding. It means a lot. Most of my friends don't get it the same way the Tripawds community does ... they look at it like, I have Jasper now, why I am I still sad?

But I am and it definitely is eternal love ...

Jasper and I went to Petco and got her some new toys and I would say, playing with those toys have definitely made me smile and laugh! You're right ... Shelby loved to see her mama smile!

XO

That sweet face is so hard to resist......Alison, we are all right there with you in regards to these sad anniversaries......I always catch myself doing and saying the same thing, "Gee, this time last year, Polly was next to me on my sofa watching the first Raven's pre-season game"...........everything I do, and everywhere I look, reminds me of times with my girl......

I know as much as Shelby was your entire life, and still a huge part of it, that little Jasper will work her way into your heart more and more each day.......she will never be anything like Shelby, and Shelby will always be your soul mate, but there is a reason Jasper came into your life.

Shedding tears for you in remembrance of your very special girl, and I know sweet Shelby is with you everyday, still by your side, of that I am certain........

Much Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly

That means we are coming up on 5 months. Ugh. Oh Allison, I feel your pain and heartache.  I miss being here and exchanging our triumphs and heartaches, big and small.  It all seems such a long time ago but is still very fresh.

Hugs to you,

Amy & Spirit Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

I agree, that adorable face! Miss you precious Shelby. I get what you mean by it seeming long and short at the same time. Some days are still just so hard. I believe that Jasper is with you for a reason. I think you both needed each other. It is just so hard to miss our pups so much. I think it is ok if Shelby's place in your heart remains her's. Jasper will find her own place in there also. The love our hearts can encompass is immeasurable. I think that our hearts get bigger with each fur baby that we love. Sending hugs, Lori and Ty

I just don't understand how some people don't get it!

Glad to see that you and Jasper had a ball, that photo of her in your other topic is priceless. You know the saying, our dogs reflect our emotions...well Jasper captured yours perfectly.

+1 on reading through the tears and what Sally and others said so eloquently.

There's an extra special bond with that first fur kid of our own who has seen us through a decade plus of so many events and emotions and milestones and allowed us to love them so fully.

That said, I agree that Shelby had her paws all over Jasper coming to be yours. It's been so much fun to read about her journey and how she's settling in and starting to blossom and show you her Jasperness in all its glory. No doubt Shelby is smiling down at it all as she plays with her many RB friends!

Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
