There have been so many losses of our sweet guys and girls lately, I just wanted to share this.   I read this in a site I belong to for Springer Spaniel Owners and Lovers...   one of the members posted it, and she copied it from another site for Boxers.    Although it was written as a letter from her dog "Solo" you just need to fill in the name.. and you know it would be the letter that your sweet furbaby would write you.....

Here goes..

Franklin's First Day at Rainbow Bridge

Hiya mummy, it's Franklin
I just wanted to say
Although I'm sad to leave you
I've arrived and I'm ok

I was met by a grey old boy
Who bounded up at speed
He told me that he'd show me round
Get me anything I need

Although he looked as old as me
He really was so fast
It was then I realised
That my pain too has passed

Oh how I leaped and jumped
And bounded about with joy
Just the way you'll remember me
When I was a baby boy

I have no aches and pains
Except a little in my heart
For as much as I feel great
I felt sad we were apart

My friend and guide he sensed this
And told me "come with me"
He took me to the middle of the bridge
And told me "look and see"

I looked into the water
Expecting my own face there
But instead of being a mirror
I saw you everywhere

I see you today so heartbroken
I see you shed those tears
So I wanted to let you know mummy
That I'm always going to be here

I saw the first day that we met
How you made me the happiest pup
When you pointed me out
And when you picked me up

I see so many memories
I know you have them too
And these are the special memories
I want to share with you

I could have stayed there all day long
Looking at all of you
But my new friend said about a game
There's lots if fun things to do.

He told me when I miss you
I can go halfway across the bridge
And bark off into the wind
As I stand upon that ridge

So if you listen very closely
Especially when you are sad
You might just hear me whisper
Then you won't feel so bad.

Before I go now mummy
I'll tell you what I saw
For my grey old friend wagged his tail
And pointed with his paw

He started walking towards the bridge
For him his time had come
For there standing upon the bridge
Was none other than his mum

He bounded up with sheer delight
And danced around her feet
And together they crossed to the other side
For a moment did our eyes meet

He didn't have to say a word
For at last I understood
For one day you will meet me here
And we will reunite for good

So it isn't really goodbye
For we will meet again
So imagine me happy and playing
In a place where there is no pain

You have given me everything
And in your heart I live
So please please be happy
For you have so much more love to give

Franklin xx

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Christine, thank you for sharing this.....I can't really see through my tears to comment, so I hope I get it right. I just passed the 4 month anniversary of my Polly's passing, and reading this was huge comfort today......I miss her as much today as I did the very first day I lost her....my heart is healing everyday, just a bit slow, and reading these wonderful posts work wonders for me.

Thank you again, and thinking of you and your sweet Franklin....
Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly

Chris I am bawling! This part reminds me of the first hike we took without our fearless leader.

He told me when I miss you
I can go halfway across the bridge
And bark off into the wind
As I stand upon that ridge

So if you listen very closely
Especially when you are sad
You might just hear me whisper
Then you won't feel so bad.

Thank you for always sharing the most meaningful poems.

Thank you for this poem.  I too am bawling like a baby.  Today is Libby's 3 month Angelsversary and I don't feel any more than a little better.  I still cry almost every day, not hard tears, but tears that well up and a few escape down my cheeks.

When we were on this journey I had no regrets.  I felt we did everything we could and that would make it easier when "that" day came, but it didn't.  I miss her so much it hurts.  I miss everything about her.  I'm surprising myself at how badly I'm handling all this.

Amy & Spirit Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Thank you, Christine, for sharing this haunting and beautiful tribute.  The part that Jerry quoted has really touched me, too.
