I never knew what people meant when they said they had a heart dog. I've always loved my dogs so much, but heart dog was a concept lost on me.... Then I met Domino. From the moment I saw him, it was there, the connection, the spark if you will, I had found my heart dog. I knew I needed him in my life.

Unfortunately life isn't fair, and I only get to spend 4 1/2 short years with my heart dog. Tomorrow I will say goodbye to my best friend. Domino has been through so much in his short 5 1/2 years, and now with him suffering so much I have to make the most difficult decision I'll ever make. He's been fighting Osteosarcoma for almost a year and I think he's finally had enough. He's always been my happy bouncy boy, my shadow, never leaving my side in the house. Now he grunts as I lift him onto the bed, his eyes follow me throughout the house because his body will no longer let him up, before he would scarf his food before it had time to hit the bottom of the bowl, now he struggles with every bite as he lays on his bed to eat.

As difficult as the decision is to let him go, I can't let him suffer. He needs to be able to go with a little dignity, I know he hates not being able to do the things he loves.

We have an appointment for tomorrow morning at 10:30am... We will spend tonight and tomorrow morning doing some of his favorite things. I don't know what I'll do without him.

My tripawds friends and family have been amazing over the last 4 1/2 years. I would've been lost without all of you. I can't thank you all enough...

Our dear, dear, dear Cassie, I am sooooo sorry, so very sorry to know that Domino needs to shed his earth clothes  and head to the  Bridge.   I'm just heartbroken for you.

I went to say more, so much more, but for now I'll just say continue  to love on that very special, special boy.  Domino was ALWAYS meant to be your Heart Dog❤.  Always.  It wasn't  an easy journey getting to you, but he found his way to the person who would become his Heart Human❤

As hard as it is, and it's  hard as hell, but continue  to stay in the moment.  Your love is so strong, you can do it.  Domino has made it clear his Spiritnis tired and he's  ready for a renewal where he can be vibrant  and his bouncy self again.  The two of you together overcame eo many challenges...so many.  Because  of your care and devotion  you got so much extra bonus time for loving  and spoiling.   YOU made Domino's  earth life the happiest time any dog could ever hope for!!

I am soooo honored,  truly honored,  to have been in the presence  of that special  Soul on different  ocassions, his pack mates and his very special  human.  Each time I got to see the very special  bond you two shared AND I got to observe a t ruly happy boy!  Yes, we all saw the connection,  the "spark".

We're  with you Cassie.  We're  surrendering  uou with our strength, and with the peace in knowing  Domino is ready for his next adventure and is welcoming rhe gift of release  you are so selflessly  giving him.❤

Do you hace oce cream? Or even a tiny piece of chocolate?  If so, give him some for me.  When he gets to the Bridge Happy Hannah will be one of the first ones, along with others, to greet him.  Yes, she'll  smell the ice cream/chocolate  on his breath and know his send off meal was spectacular. ...and his welcome  home meal will be even more spectacular!!

With love, with heartfelt love

Please tell your amazing, sweet and handsome hero that our Jerry and all the Tripawd angels will be waiting when he arrives.

Cassie and Domino:

I grieve to hear of your too soon parting.  In no way is this fair. I hope you feel us with you as you take these hardest steps together even though you know it is the right path.

Sending love, calm energy and strength.  And sending our spirited warrior Domino wishes for a gentle journey wrapped in the love of his very best friend.

On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly.  His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.

Cassie ~

Michelle shared with us girls last night that you were saying good-bye today, but she didn't say what time.  I just logged in for the first time in awhile - the first banner I saw was Murphy's heart which made me smile.  And this was the first post I came to cryingright at 10:25am ….so as you're saying good-bye, I'm writing.  I'm so glad that Glenn & I got to meet you and Domino in Virginia last year.  He really is a sweet dog.  You have done an amazing job with him and taken great care of him.  He truly loves you.  I'm so very sorry for your heart break.

Hugs to you

Donna

Oh Cassie my heart has been so heavy since Michelle shared this news with us last night.  You and precious Dom have been in my thoughts and prayers.  They say a dog gives you the best days of your life and one worst day.  I hope you can feel the love of this Tripawd nation surrounding you as you navigate this "worst" day.  I feel blessed as I was lucky enough to meet Dom and his special person and followed yours and his journey always rooting for him and his amazing spunk and determination.  Now as Dom takes his place with all our Angels know he will be watched over by them all.  Sending light and love to you and yours!  I will always remember Dom the Warrior!  Know his spirit will be with you always!

I've been thinking of you all morning.

I'm so sorry it's Dom's time already to join the Tripawd Pack across the Bridge.  Nothing about cancer is fair.

Those special ones, those heart dogs never really leave us.  He will live on in your heart and so will always, always be by your side.

Cassie, sweet friend 🌷

I am so sorry to hear Domino has earned his silver wings 😔

Time is never enough, never ...

You took the right decision, the only possible decision for his sake, his mind was sharp but his body could no longer follow.

I hear you.

That is when we know it’s time to get them free, they are ready to continue living with us but in a different form.

They never, ever leave us, their love and our bond is too strong, love never dies.

Sending you all my love, my heart is right next to yours 💕

Cassie,

We know how hard this is.  Reach out to us when you need to.  Post pictures and talk about Dom.   I am so glad we all got to meet.  Dom was a true fighter.

You are right 4 1/2 years isn't enough time for you to spend with him.  He will never leave.  Watch for his signs. Sending love

Xoxoxo
