I know this isn't tripawd or even Monkeybutt related but this saturday it will be one year since we lost our much loved Chloe she was a beautiful dog full of life, energy and couriosity which was to be her ultimate downfall. Chloe got into a pack of slug/snail bait and died a hideous and tragic death. Its a night I will remember for the rest of my life but the guilt I felt afterwards has finally eased, so have the nightmares. We got Kayla after Chloe died and that has led us to all of you wonderful folks here and I guess that is one good thing that has come out of it. It was a mistake that will haunt me forever and I'll never used poisons again despite having a extensive veg garden!! I was always so careful with this sort of thing but this one day I was distracted by sick kids and accidently left the box within her reachand you can guess the rest,  but it was the worse thing I have ever seen. so please think of me this Saturday 25th (or what will be Friday for most of you) as it is also my birthday.

Chloe wherever you are now I love you and I hope you are at peace. the kids still talk about you and we all miss you so much!! Love you lttle miss

Oh Sarah, I'm so sorry for your loss of chloe under such tragic circumstances.   I can't begin to imagine how horrible that must have been for you. There is only so much we can do to protect the ones we love and unfortunately sometimes mistakes and accidents happen. I'm glad the guilt has finally eased for you.  It is such a debilitating emotion and stops us from getting on with living. Chloe would want you to forgive yourself.

Thinking of you as you approach Saturday.

Lots of hugs

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. {{{{{hugs}}}}} You can share things like this here anytime, we get it.

Sara I am so sorry this happened to your Chloe. Please don't beat yourself up, accidents are accidents and nobody can predict them, if they could they would never happen. My grandpawrents have a dog who got into snail bait, so I know what you mean, it's a horrible situation. If anything, when things like this happen, we learn from them, make others aware of the danger and then that way our loved one didn't die in vain. By sharing your experience here, you have already educated folks in her honor. Chloe is proud.

It's gotta be tough to have a birthday so close to an anniversary like this. I'm sorry. We send our love and happy birthday wishes, and hope the coming year brings you all that your heart desires.

All pack members are welcome here.  That experience sounds awful- I'm so sorry you lost Chloe that way.

I know the first year after losing a pup is hard- its full of those first times without... and the date being on your birthday must be especially hard.

I hope you have a peaceful day full of the good memories of Chloe.

Sarah, we'll certainly be thinking about you and Chloe on the 25th; sending you birthday wishes and Chloe hugs in heaven.  I am glad the guilt and the nightmares have receded and you now have your lovely, lively Kayla to offer you the companionship that only a dog can offer.

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011

Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011.  Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs.  If love alone could have saved you…

Oh, Sarah, that's so hard - but as others have said, Chloe would not want you to beat yourself up over this!! I'm glad to hear you say that the nightmares have receded. What a trying time for you.

It is so sad when we lose a beloved pup, no matter what the circumstances, and the whole first year after is hard. I'm glad you have Kayla to help you get through. She is definitely a wonderful thing in your life to help you get through missing your girl.

Thinking of you guys,

Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
