Hello everyone!

First I would like to say that this forum, stories and page are amazing and that I am more than glad to find it. I would also like to apologise for my english writing mistakes 😉

My name is Sanja and I am from Slovenia. I am a 24 years old cultural studies student and I live with my german boxer Berlingo. On january 1st 2011 I`ve adopted Bosnian orphan, 4 months old dog girl named Trina. I want to share her story with you...

Animal cruelty and abuse is very common in Bosnia...It is so sad that it hurts. There are so many stray dogs, dogs who do not have nothing and nobody and they are not protected by any law. A lot of people are shooting them and abusing them and there is no much we can do. A lot of people from Bosnia, Slovenia and other countries are donating and adopting but that is all we can do...we can not save them all and we can not stop abuse if their government is not doing anything. Here is an album of horrible photos showing, what is happening in Sarajevo, Bosnia: http://www.face.....1606114209

So, a few weeks before Christmas a saw a messege on Facebook - my friend Olga who was just in Bosnia because she was helping some dogs posted, that she found a baby dog lying near the main street, unconscious and bleeding - she was shot in her right front leg. She picked her up and took her to hospital. The doctor saved her life but he couldnt save her leg, which has been amputated. At the very first moment I saw her photo she was already mine, in my heart. I have contacted Olga and said that she has to bring Trina across the border as soon as she will recover. And she did 😉

Trina is now a very very lively dog, with lot of energy and amaying personality. She loves being here with me and Berlingo and I can tell that she is more than grateful. I think she does not really know that she is a tripawd...she is running like crazy, catching birds and playing...

I love her with all my heart and I am more than happy to be able to know her and that she is part of my life.

If you have any adivice for me it is more than welcome.

Kind regards,

Sanja

A triple welcome to you and your tripawd!  She really is almost too sweet.  What a lucky pup to make it out of Bosnia and into your home.

I can't think of any tips given how great it sounds like the three of you are doing together.  Congratulations on the addition to your family!

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.

He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.

Your Trina is a cutie.  I can see how she stole your heart.  My advice is to try to keep her weight down and love her everyay!  I know you  are.

Welcome to you and Trina.  While Trina's story is a tragic one, she certainly has found a good home.  It is always a happier welcome for the new tripawds who are not facing cancer.  Trina had a tough start, but now her worries are over.  She is absolutely adorable.

Bless you and welcome!

Oh, I can see you are going to have a very happy little girl!  Trina is a doll for sure!  She stole my heart with the first picture!

I have had a three legged dog for now 12 years.  Mine too came from terrible humans.  You are so lucky that Trina doesn't have any emotional problems.  Mine does.  She doesn't trust humans except for us.

There isn't really anything that is going to change much with having a three legged dog.  As she gets older, she may have some issues with mobility.  But that is a long way down the road when she gets to be a senior dog.

In the meantime, just love her and don't worry about the future.  You guys will be very happy.

What a cutie!  I can see why your heart melted when you saw her picture.  Mine continued to melt as I looked at each picture - especially the one with her new big brother Berlingo!  You are both so lucky to have found each other, and we are looking forward to hearing of Trina's adventures!

Oh my goodness – she is just adorable!

It looks like she already made a successful adjustment to life on 3 legs and is happy with her new pack.

It is hard knowing there is so much need out there, but being able to save just one makes a difference!

Good luck with her.

WOW!! What an incredibly cute puppy. Welcome to our group. As awful as it is that the amputation could have been avoided, as Shanna mentioned, at least you won't have to worry about cancer.

What a wonderful thing you did by rescuing her. She doesn't seem to have skipped a beat. Dogs really are forgiving that way, for the most part.

By the way, i visited Slovenia a few years ago, and what an amazing country you live in. I loved every part of it, from the coast to the mountains. I can't wait until I can make it back again.

Good luck and keep us posted.
