I need to introduce myself.  I am Mandi and Daisy is my 4 lb pomernian/baby. I've been lurking around here for a few weeks now since my sweet Daisy broke her leg and we found out it wasn't healing and needed it amputated.  I am so glad I found this site when I did because it made the descision easier to bear.  So she had her surgery yesterday and she is doing really well.  I think she is a little sad but it could be the drugs. She is getting around really well and eating and using the bathroom.

I am just so proud of her!  I can't stop telling her how much I love her!

I can't believe how quickly she adapts!

Thanks, Mandi

Welcome to Tripawds Mandi and Daisy. Sorry you HAD to find us, but you will be glad you did! I hope Daisy continues to heal well and adapt to her new normal.
The drugs do mess with them, and they really are not themselves the first couple days after surgery. She sounds like she is doing well already though, eating and potty!

Keep us posted on her recovery, and a couple of pictures would be great!

Welcome Daisy and Mom!   Daisy, you are adorable!!! and doing so well!

Isn't it funny how we start the potty talk after surgery?  It reminds me of potty training my sons.  Watch that poo!  It's such a great feeling to see everything's working right! YAY!!!

I've noticed the light-weights seem to heal particularly quickly.  She'll find her 'new normal' soon. I'm so glad you don't have cancer to worry about.  Another  YAY!

Welcome Mandi & Daisy! Sorry you had to find us, but you won't be sorry you did. This is a great site with lots of very helpful and supportive folks!

It is pretty normal for a pup to seem "depressed" after the surgery. Our pup was definitely like that! She really only would perk up for visitors. She seemed so tired of my hubby and me and didn't seem too int'd in us... unless we were bearing hamburger or other treats to entice her to eat. But once she is done with the pain meds and has her staples out, you should see her start to act a lot more like her old self.

She is adorable in your avatar! Hope to see more pics soon. Being a tripawd pawrent is an awesome thing. And it is awesome that Daisy is not a tripawd due to cancer. Welcome to the club. 🙂

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Welcome, Mandi and Daisy! Mandi, while it is too bad you had to find us, you will never find a more supportive group. It sounds like things are progressing well. In a few days, once Daisy ditches the pain meds, you will be amazed at how quickly her personality resurfaces.

Daisy, you look just like my mom's dog Joe, who is also adorable. In a few weeks, you will be running around the house like your normal self!

Pawsitive thoughts your way,

Beth and Spirit Smilin' Sammy

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.

We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.

Welcome Mandi and Daisy!  Oh, I'm sorry to hear about the bad break!  But I'm so glad to hear she is doing well.  She's a tiny little munchkin but, oh so cute!

Lots of good thoughts coming her (and your) way!

Mandi and Daisy, we're so glad you decided to join in! Sorry that you had to, though, but how wonderful that she's doing so well! Her small size will be a huge advantage in how well she does as a three-legger.

Yes, the drugs can make dogs really loopy and not quite themselves for the first few days. Hang in there, once she's off them she'll be back to her normal pawsonality in no time.

Thanks for joining us!
