hey Sally, I have some Galliprant left over from Nitro. They are 60 mg tablets. I have them cut in half, which leads me to believe he must have taken 1/2 pill at a time. I can't remember his dose, but your vet should be able to tell you. I would guess nitro was 67-70 some lbs at the end. I will get them out in the mail on Monday.

Paula and many-kinds-of-drugs Warrior Angel Nitro

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

Sally, sweetheart 💓

I have no experience with the drugs which are mentioned and the same for wheels or braces.

I just wish I could make some helpful suggestion but I don’t know what to say...

I am SO glad others are coming up with all sorts of ideas, we are all very close and you are a truly treasured and adored member of our family 💗

Frankie is in my thoughts daily and so are Myrtle and you 💕

Still waiting for Eurydice’s oncologist opinion and will place another call next Monday.

Hopefully he’ll be able to help.

Sally, my heart is right there, next to yours, the day you will find a solution for Frankie will be up there in the happiest days of my life!

Sending you a tornado of hugs and zillion cuddles to Frankie and Myrtle 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)

Thanks again to all❤

Finally, Frankie has a Rehab appt THIS Wednesday!!   I'll update then.

Gotta laugh at this crazy household....so Myrtle got spooked because  I made an "unexpected  noise by dropping  a book.   So she jumped up and ran into a tavle with a glass figurine......which crashed and shattered on the floor.  I go to calm her down and get her centered.    Of course, Frankie has to hop over to help....yeah.... through the glass...yeah, a piece of glass in his front paw🤪😖    Fortunately  it was stuck more in his fur between his toes than his pad.  😎😎  Whew! Coulda' been so much worse!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Finally Sally just got Dr Luís email !!!!
He says he is available and happy to try and help but points out without a physical examination it is extremely difficult to evaluate level of pain, affected articulation, whether artrose is present on that spot, whether there is a “silent” artrose, etc (I am quoting)
He asks whether you have an X-ray of the hip and of the knee which was operated on?
He asks on which positions specifically does he show pain?
He asks if there are any X-rays taken in the same positions he shows pain.
He asks if if there are any videos showing the pain.
All exams can be sent via email, can you do this ASAP?
Email address was sent to you by PM.
Luis is waiting for the replies to the above plus the copies of X-rays and he says he can help and I can call him today, except today I probably won’t have your feedback due to time difference between our countries (it's 10:30am here now)
Sally, I really trust him, he is somebody who says I don’t know when he doesn’t and I appreciate that enormously.
Not every vet (or human doc for the matter) is humble enough to admit when they don’t know.
Keeping fingers crossed he can help Frankie!

GOOD NEWS (relatively speaking of course)!!!!!  😁 Rehab Vet says Frankie's  better off than she thought he might be!!!!!        Of course, he was showing off big time!!😎

She checked  out all three limbs as well as a Rehab could.   Videos to follow to show you how thorough  and how she identified  certain areas as okay, and not as good...but still OKAY!!!!!

SHE DOES NOT.......REPEAT  DOES  NOT.... think the meniscus  is too much of an issue at this point!!!!!!!   She feels that it is responding  BETTER  than when she first addressed it as a possible  issue, as far as manipulating  leg, range of motion, showing  pain or not, etc.

That particular  leg does show some POSSIBLE pain when she manipulated  the hip.  But we know he already has hip dysplasia  based on an xray fone at time  of cruciate  surgery.

She thinks the cruciate  surgery is holding well!!!!😁 HOLDING WELL!!  LOTS OF GOOD SCAR TISSUE HELPING!!    Does hear crunching and feels lots of stuff indicating  lots of arthritis  (no surprises, but definitely  prominent)

Thinks other rear leg is in good shape hip to toe😁

Front leg....lots of arthritis at elbow.

Shoulder seems okay...just tight.

Spine shows sign of sore spots when she goes up and down it.  Definitely  muscle tightness and probably  some arthritis too.

So the plan of action

*Continue to make him take it easy as much as possible (that is probably  one reason the meniscus is doing better)

*Galiprint (Thank you Nitro😚)

*Adequan injections ar home... she's  checking  on prices and my regular Vet too.  I'll check with Cosco too.

*ADVANCED  DASUQUN...Vet prescription  only.

*Laser ideally on all three legs, but back for sure of that's  all I can do.

*Chiropractic  treatments (she doesn't  do those), if possible.

*Acupuncture  of possible.

Now, as you all know, yes,  it would be great to do lots pof xrays, MRI, CT scans, etc.to definitely  diagnose everything properly.

I needed to fo  this route for financial  reasons, but ALSO because  I felt from my " guided inner voice" this was the path to take.  I feel very confident  in her analysis today.  .  She DOES know Frankie and how he reacts...how he's reacted jn the past to manipulation,  etc.

Okay....trying to give  you a quick and condensed  update as quickly  as possible!!  Will come back with more once those videos finish on YouTube.....which seems like ot takes furever!!!!

The Piixe dust....the good wishes....Terese's wonderful  Dr Luis feedback...Jackie already contacting a place in Va about braces..❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤All of yoiu....each of you.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Oh poor! I forgot to ask about wheels or braces!!!!    Oh...and Teresa....Dr Luis's questions.....I think arthro was in reference  to advanced arthritis....and that does seem to be, to some degree, what we're  dealing with.  I think we can hold everything  at bay now with all,  or at least some, of this specific  targeted treatment

Okay..gonna go breathe now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I'm hearing a lot of positivity here! So happy that things aren't as bleak as you thought! I also have some Adequan left over from Nitro, not a huge amount, but depending on Frankie's dose, enough for at least one injection. Wish I'd have thought to include it with the galliprant package. I'll look at it, and see if it's worth sending to you. Nitro was on 0.6cc, do you know what Frankie's dose would be? Doing the happy dance at our house for a better-than-expected report! Time to break out the chocolate - I, of course, would break out wine. Hugs!

WHEEEEEE! This is such great news, thanks for the condensed version. It's a relief to all of us Sally. As we watch Frankie and you cope with this situation, it's a learning experience for all of us so we are truly grateful that you are including us in the process (as if your life isn't busy enough!).

I'm with Paula, time for some wine!

The Galliprant isn't cheap but I'm wondering if there is any kind of assistance available through Aratana? Kind of the way there is for some human drugs that are costly.

As for the chirpractic....keep in mind that although lots of folks do report seeing positive effects on their dogs, Dr. Mike Petty says that chiro s one thing that he doesn't recommend pursuing for pain management . There just isn't enough evidence to support its use, nor have veterinarians received long enough training to make it as effective in pets as it is for people ... yet. So what I'm saying is, don't feel badly if you cannot afford to do it.

I like the plan. Good news overall!
