I finally took a close look at rescue dog Perdys vet paperwork. They tested her for Heartworm at the shelter in October 2011 and that was negative but it showed + for Lyme. Looks like they just did routine vaccines. She has been with us for 3.5 weeks.

She has had intermittent lameness in the front leg and is hates us touching her back and hips <<she occasionally nips when we try to run our hands over her... I wasn't sure if this was from nervousness, abuse or if she is ouchy.

Is there anything I need to or should do now?

A positive Lyme test only indicates exposure but if the dog has symptoms of lameness or fever then most vets will treat with doxycycline.  I would call the rescue group or consult your vet.

Ok- I made an appointment to be on the safe side. In all these years and all my dogs I've never had one come up positive.

Thanks!
