I just wanted to let everyone know that Jack is doing great.  I am amazed at how well he is adjusting.  He is adjusting faster than me actually.  He is feeling better everyday.  He is back to wiggling his entire but when you speak to him, and not just his tail.  Yay! improvement.  Yesterday was the last day for his pain meds, so we will see how he does today.

Thank you all so much for this site, and all of your comments.  It really helped me through the process especially when I spent the weekend worrying so much about his future.  You guys helped me see that losing a leg did not mean the end of his happy healthy life.  I know that we still have to make adjustments, and he still has a road to recovery.  But I can see he is still going to have a high quality of life.  And I can see he is still my happy and loving friend.  Thank you again for providing the resources to get through this.  I will continue to post updates.

I keep missing things these days, and sorry I missed your post. What a cutie, and sounds like Jack is doing well in his recoup. Great news. Will be checking to see your continued success!

I missed the update post, too, but wanted to add my "attaboy" for Jack. He sounds like he will be back to doing whatever he wants to do in no time. Just slow him down for the first little while. If he's anything like Murphy, he probably thinks he can already run a marathon and then climb a mountain. Once he's over this initial part, you may want to look into some physical therapy to help him strengthen his core and his remaining legs. I know it did wonders for us.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
