For the osteosarcoma vaccine a definite diagnosis is needed..  My dog has had cyber knife 2/15,16,17 of this year  and 4 treatments of chemo,,. 5th on tues and 6th 3 weeks later,, If I don't do the needle aspirate,, are there any brand new techniques that can show osteosarcoma without going into the bone and risking a break?

Not that I know of.  A fine needle aspirate is low risk but often just comes back saying "undifferentiated sarcoma". A full biopsy is the only way I know to definitively say osteosarcoma vs chondrosarcoma or hemangiosarcoma.  You could always try the FNA first and then if it is inconclusive do the biopsy.

Didn't you have the biopsy done prior to chemo?

Thanks for your reply...  No biopsy was done.  Jerry mentioned that they didn't do one on his dog as the x rays clearly showed osteosarcoma. I think this is my case as well,,  Jerry said,, that protocols will probably be adjusted to the vaccine age,, etc....
