My Rottweiler has Osteosarcoma and had hind leg amputated.  He is on his second dose of Carboplatin. (everything went just fine with the first)  Id like to have his platelets, white, and red cells higher but they were with on "normal" limits.

He came home full of energy, ate, had a bowel movement, and then at night all he did was NOT SLEEP and pant heavily all night.  No sleep.

Is this a side effect of Carboplatin?  His gums are pink,  no cough, no fever, but pants and is clearly in distress.

Not typically but anything is possible with chemo drugs. In general the main side effects are GI upset; it sounds like he ate so that is good. Panting can be anything from anxiety/stress to pain. If he is still doing that this morning I would definitely call your vet/oncologist and take his temperature if you are able.

thank you.  I did take his temp and he is normal.  he is enjoying ice cubes every now and again.  He is eating, but much less than normal and will sometimes postpone the meals till he is up for it. I called the oncologist who wants to add Zofran to his mix.  So lets hope this does the trick!

Paws crossed it works! That's a really good sign that he's eating again. Keep us posted in your Treatment and Recovery topic, I'd like to know more about how the Zofran is working for him.
