Hi,

I have not posted a lot in the past year or so, but I wanted to share a little bit of silly joy I've had lately.  I'm a little stoopid and struggle with uploading images (which I will succeed at hopefully tomorrow), but I wanted to share results from the DNA test from our sweet Joe who we adopted as a puppy in January of 2017 after we lost MySweetTed to this terrible cancer in 2016.  All along we thought he was a black lab mix since he looked like it and the Humane Society listed the puppies as black lab/shar pei mix - which sucked me in because we were told that Ted was part Shar pei from the rescue group we adopted him from and well, I loved his mix (whatever it really was) and I loved him - tremendously...  ANYWAY.  Our Black Lab looking pup has NO Lab in his DNA.  He turns out to be 50% Rottweiler (Michelle!!) - purebred Rottie on one entire side of his family tree - and 25% Cane Corso (Like I kept telling my family....he's so BLACK that there had to be a breed like that in there), 18% American Staffordshire Terrier (Pitbull - which we thought would be much higher because he has such a huge head..and we love the breed), and ~7% Chow Chow.... that explains that one puppy of the eight who looked like he might have german shepherd genes. 🙂   I feel like I understand him so much more now that I know what his breeds are.  He is lazy, he is sweet, he chases his tail a lot, and he is such a loving, cuddly dog.  Oh, and he drools a lot! Silly Fool.  I honestly thought Great Dane was in his genes because he looks and reminds me so, so  much of Christine's Otis....from the pictures I've seen he is kind of a doppleganger!  Fingers crossed that I succeed in uploading pics.

I hope everyone seeing this is doing well and your pups are too.

It's so great to hear from you Wanda! And what a fun thing to share about Joe, thanks for the enlightening info. Those DNA tests can be so much fun and helpful too.

Joe was such a crazy puppy! It sounds like he's hit his stride as a goofy "teenager" now?

I would be happy to share images of him if you'd like, just pm me. And if you want to tackle it yourself here's a post about adding images to the forums.

P.S. You are so not stooopid!

How exciting, Wanda! Whatever he is, he’s beautiful. I remember him so well from the Tripawds Pawty. I’m also surprised there’s no lab in there - that’s what I would have guessed. My Meg is half Rottweiler too, though judging from your description of Joe (lazy, sweet...) I’m thinking they must have got different halves...

Looking forward to seeing the pics,

Too funny.... but seemingly  so true!!😂🤣😂🤣😂

This blows me away Wanda!    I can remember  when we met this long-legged bundle of energy we were all talking about what a big boy this LAB was going to be....and that he's all LAB ...and stuff like that!!!!

I think of all his varied heritage,  the one that astound6 me most is 50% Roottie...next maybe the Cane Corso (although, if I recall,  he had long legs he needed to grow into).  But NO Lab???? WOW!!!

Do get us some pictures!  And then post some from his puppyhood when uou first got him.  Can't  wait to see the difference  now!

It was wonderful,  really wonderful, to hear from you❤  Ted's banner. MySweetTed's banner always makes me smile.  He touched us all💖

Lots of love

Wanda! So good to hear from you! I can't wait to see pics of a more grown-up Joe; I mostly remember a little black wiggly thing from our get-together 2 years ago. I think those DNA kits are so cool, and really make you look at your pup in a whole new light. Like Sally, I ALWAYS SMILE when I see Sweet Ted's banner - its one of my favorites. Thanks for checking back in to let us know how you're doing.

Have often wondered how you and feisty Joe have been doing.  Thanks for checking in.  Wow a very unique mix Joe turns out to be.  Sure did look like a lab at the pawty to end all pawty's he sure had us fooled lol.  He sounds like a total sweetheart and I too can't wait to see a picture of grownup Joe.  I myself am too not computer savvy to post pictures so I either sent them to Rene or Sally to do it for me and they always obliged (hint hint).  We all still miss My sweet Ted too and his antics.  So glad he sent you Joe.  Keep in touch we miss you!

Hey Wanda,

Great to hear from you.  Wow not what I expected to see out of Joe's DNA test.  I figured black lab for sure.   Those are kind of fun to look at and see what exactly you have.  I can't wait to see more pictures (hint Hint) of Joe.

sending hugs and love
