Yes, the time can still feel like yesterday and 20 years ago all at the same time. But the anniversary yesterday was more reflective and less sad. I still miss him and I'd be lying if I said some tears weren't shed, but I appreciate the time we had now more than I rue the time we lost due to that stupid disease. And if Rocky doesn't head to the Bridge at precisely the time he did, I miss out on Baxter. So yeah, Rocky knew what he was doing.
Rocky used to crack me up the way he'd chase his tennis ball. I always meant to record it, but always put it off. I did finally get one of him as a tripawd, but I don't have any of him when he was younger and I regret that. So yes, I need to get one of Baxter "talking" on the phone.
And Karen, that's hilarious how your pack goes looking for intruders. Baxter does the same thing when he hears a delivery truck outside.
David and Rocky (and Baxter now too!)
Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.
He is the toughest, bravest, sweetest and best friend I'll ever know.
Love that Happy Hannah's banner showed up when you came post. Just more "signs" how connected we all are to each other and to Rocky.💖
I guess it's probably quite weird to most, but I purposely black out any recall as far as specific dates for amputation, crossover, Etc. Some stay in a "general approximate date" if it's near Christmas i.e. Just not dates I want in my mind. Conversely, the downside of this I guess is that I don't put gotcha dates, or birthday dates necessarily consciously in my brain.
Baxter and I are almost certainly closer to the end of our time together than the beginning. That thought terrifies me.
You are still a youngster in my world and so is Baxter😂😉 Yes, same with Merry Myrtle and myself. Thing is, at my age (your parents can relate) I cannot stand the thought of being dogless... CANNOT STAND THE THOUGHT and living remaining earth time without that companion.....yeah.....an unbearable thought!
BTW. have your parents decided on another dog in the future?
As far as vocal dogs, I can almost guarantee that no dog could hold a candle to how much my Frankie used to talk, and talk and talk...everything required a vocalization, a discussion, a demand, a gleeful reply, a "pay attention to me now" .....or just talking to hear himself talk.
Okay David and Karen, now we HAVE to have videos of your puppers discussing their thoughts with their vocals!!!!😂
Hugs,
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
PS. That was such a lovely way you honored Rocky by supporting Tripawds. The pictures of him so Happy with his green ball made me smile....really 😊
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
