So she either scratched herself on a door, gate or something sharp or she got into a tussle with another dog at daycare yesterday. It took me several hours of having a happy and chill Jasper home before I noticed the mark on her face. I thought it was dirt so I gave her a spit bath and tried to get it off but it wouldn't come off. After closer examination, I realized it was a scratch. I called over to the daycare (they are open till 9) and asked if there was any report of Jasper getting into a fight w/another dog... they said they hadn't witnessed anything and that perhaps she scratched herself by the door where she likes to hang out. They said they would check w/the a.m. crew but since it wasn't written down, probably nothing happened.

I am trying really, really hard NOT to be all manic or psycho pet mom since no one saw anything and I did see Jasper push to far at the dog park over the weekend and she got pinned and screamed bloody murder so I suspect if there was a fight, she would have cried and SOMEONE would have seen it. This is a nice facility with nice staff and lots of my friends take their dogs there so I see no reason to stop going. And Jasper only hangs w/dogs her own size so it's not like she's a super small fish in a big pond. I just get nervous. Her pretty face is now scratched up and it's not even and I think that is what is bugging me the most ... but I am sure it will heal and her fur will grow back ... I even thought about running her to the ER vet last night but when I saw that it wasn't bugging her, I figured I need to remember to relax, breathe and accept that, as my friend Karma said, kids play, kids get scratched up and kids heal.

You can see it right next to the corner of her mouth - the little red mark (and yes, that is her on my bed). - still rocking the 'resting b!tch face'...

And this is her about 30 minutes later ...zonked! Daycare is exhausting! And this is how she slept all night ... until the alarm went off and she flies up like a bat out of hell. No snooze button for this one. She put her baby in her arms like that. :-) Oh Jasper Lily...

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Awww poor baby. Tanner has marks on him pretty much all the time from tousling with dogs at the dog park. If she's playing with other dogs, I'd almost expect to see some more of those. A dog fight would have produced much different results. When they play sometimes they bite at each others faces (all the dogs at the park do this, it drives me nuts). Its ok, she's having fun that's all that matters and unless she has big deep gashes I wouldn't be too concerned about it smiley

I think if it was from a dog like you said someone would have seen it or heard it.  She might have caught it on something.  It will heal and the fur will grow back.  You are doing the right thing by Breathing (good job) .

I love seeing her on your bed.

Awe .... thanks everyone! It puts my mind at ease. I never thought twice about letting shelby tumble and rumble and even though Jasper isn't that much smaller, she is in some aspects. She seems more delicate but she is getting heavy to carry so she much be getting up in pounds! Also she doesn't quite 'leap' or help 'lift' up like Shelby did. I always feel like I am dragging her which makes her feel more like a sack of potatoes!

She is fine ... deep down I do know that!

And yes, she does look comfy on the bed. She can't get up on her own so we'll see if she wants to be up there again. Usually w/the ceiling fan, she doesn't love it up there. But she loves her babies ...

OH JASPER!! Nothing can mar that pretty face of yours!

It does seem like a scratch of some sort. When you take her back to daycare, if she acts the least bit hesitant that could mean something. But like Elizabeth said, had it been a real fight, you would be seeing more.

And trust me, Tanner is a cheek nipper when he plays!! Most dogs sniff butts as a greeting...Tanner nips faces!!!

And Jasper is sleeping with n you!!!!! YAAAAAAAY!!!!! And that picture of her hugging her t i yws...OMD!!! It just doesn't get any cuter!!!! She feels so loved for the first time in her life!!! And she can show love back to you...and her babies...without being rejected, or kicked, or punched.

Kiss her boo boo for me and enjoy the best sleeping mate a person can have!!

LOVE YOU BOTH!!!!

Sally and Happy Hannah and My Pal Merry Myrtle Mae!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Glad Jasper is okay, Allison. I agree with what Elizabeth and the others said. Dog parks and doggy day cares are akin to kids going to the playground. Some days they'll come back home with scratches, bruises, skinned knees--but it happened while they were having fun and usually they don't care. I love how she put her arm around that baby. Too cute!

Tanner is definitely one of those cheek nippers lol. No cheeks are sacred, he likes them all. All of his doggie friends at the dog park play like that, so poor Merry Myrtle was like GET THIS FREAK AWAY FROM ME hahahaha.

I think it gives her "street cred" ... 🙂

She was sad to leave daycare that day and tried to get back up the stairs so I am sure it was all fun and games ... She's been super playful lately and continues to come out of her shell! In fact this a.m. at 4:30 when we got up so I could go workout; she was so hyper and alert - but I think it's because the night creatures were still out... I'm going to need to get her a blinky light since I can feel her on the leash but I can't see where she is sticking her nose and she will go after anything the moves - and I don't think she can hold her own w/some of the 'wildlife' we have around our hood! 🙂

And LOL @ Tanner - face nipper.. .who knew? Shelby was always a back and paw nipper .. .she would nip and run ... kind of like poking at someone. Jasper herds and delivers punches ... it's pretty funny to watch!
