It's been a while, but I just highly recommended this group to someone, so I thought I'd say hello to those who remember me (And those who don't). Hopefully the person will come find this wonderful site. There's so many people here and Tripawds I still think of foundness. I would say I'd try be around more, but my life is always way too busy and I know I won't. Some day I will be done with school and have more time? Maybe? (That's assuming I don't immediately take on a bunch of extra other stuff).
Also, Floyd passed over the rainbow bridge August 23rd. It was a tough one. I still miss him so much obviously. He'd really settled down and finally gotten comfortable with life the last year or so. I'm glad we reached a point where he could mostly trust people. When we knew we were near the end we took a trip so we could get him to the beach. He couldn't do much, his mobility had gotten too bad but he did love it. (Second picture). Especially the day that was colder and windy and I am sure reminded him of our old home. He stayed his ridiculous self to the end. On his last day we offered him so many food treats, including chocolate. His favorite.... remained the romaine lettuce he has always loved.

Awwwww it is SO nice to see you here, but my heart broke when I saw that Floyd is now with Cora. I'm so sorry!
You did so much to give him the great life he deserved. It's beautiful to think he and his sister are together again but losing such a big part of your life is sooooo hard. Even when we have a dog who is sooo challenging with so many issues, it really does make it harder to lose them doesn't it? We just spend so much energy on their emotional management and when that's no longer our job, we can feel so lost. Well, at least I know I did when we set Wyatt Ray free. My condolences go out to you.
So what are you up to these days? Are you still working in the vet field? I hope so! You are incredible with animals.
Everypawdy, you have got to read about Floyd's sister Cora for an extra dose of inspawration today.
It is good to hear from uou, even though we were sad to hear about Floyd heading to the . Bridge
Rene said everything so well and, as always, with such heart.💖
You gave Floyd a besutiful send off as he ran free to reunite with Cora. The life you gave Floyd, and sweet Cora too, was so full of love, devotion and such exquisite care.
These pictures are so sweet. I love the gray fur on Floyd's muzzle. I read something along the lines that a dog's for turns to gray because all of the kissing through the years has rubbed the color off.
I know Cora and Floyd are your special Guardian Angel's watching over you now, just as you did here on earth for them.
Cant remember what other dogs or cats you might have with you now? If you don't have any right now, I'm sure some lucky dog or cat will find their way into your loving home.
Sending extra hugs to you

Nice to see you and that you are back online. I've got exciting news! I've been working in oncology which has been rewarding but is breaking my heart. I don't think I have the right personality for it. However, starting December 16th I will be working in veterinary rehab and sports medicine. I figure I will have good stories to share here.

That's super sweet. Floyd certainly got enough kisses. I miss that crazy, annoying, wonderful mutt.

Hmm... did I ever share that I found something I never expected? I have a husband now. (He's in one of the pictures with Floyd.) It took time and patience but they figured each other out. Having him in Floyd's life really helped Floyd grow. Anyway, we've been living together for a couple years now. Life can sure take you on strange journeys.
We have no cats right now. They passed the rainbow bridge. We have his dog, Bear. She's super cute, a bit of a brat but smart and well behaved. She is definitely a jealous, opinionated lady. heh.
And then in March my husband found a dog on a very busy road that is right next to the interstate. The dog was very malnourished and showed other signs of neglect. A week after we had him, when we had decided to keep him, an owner contacted me. I can't even find the words to tell you how stressed I was. After talking to the person for a bit I was honest and told her I work in veterinary medicine and was very concerned about giving the dog back. I outlined his condition and told her we had planned to keep him. Thankfully she willingly relinquished care. She had a lot going on. She seemed to be homeless and also seemed like she had mental health issues. It's really hard to know much of the dogs story as what she said changed continuously. Anyway, we named him Chaos because he is. He is not aggressive at all but he is absolutely manic when out in the world. We are *slowly* getting a grip on that. He also is a bit of an escape artist.
Not long after we got him, he got some mystery illness. I think we were very close to losing him. All the very smart doctors at the teaching hospital I work at couldn't figure out exactly what happened. Allergic/toxic reaction to an insect bite is probably the most popular theory. Recently, while we were out of town he got out and got beat up by something. He's got a lot of wounds that fortunately seem to all be minor. Sigh. I wouldn't mind if he was a little less Chaos.
And I still have the guinea pig I rescued. She was at a pet store and chronically ill as a baby. As she was so ill she wasn't getting adopted. I took her home as a ...errr.... foster.... (I mean, it's possible I could have given her back)... so she could finally get truly well. By then she had permanent head tilt from all her ear infections and I asked if she'd be adoptable and the pet store offered to let me keep her. That was 6 years ago. She's loud, boisterous and loves it when I scritch the side of her face.

Wheee! Oh happy day! I can't even begin to tell you what a joy it was to return here and see your post, the first one in over a week since we crashed hard and went offline. What a gift!
And, yikes it's been a fun, wild ride for you these last few years, all in a good way. The universe has returned all of the love and goodness you have always put into the world, but 1000 times over. I'm so happy for you, your hubby, Bear, Tippy, and Chaos -- the sweetest, spunkiest furmily on the planet! Thank you for all you do to make our world better for these amazing fur kids, both at home and at work.
I'm thrilled you are going into rehab and sports medicine It's my favorite part of veterinary care and I geek out over it so please do keep in touch to let us know how it's going. You found your calling, and the world is better because of it.
Thanks for keeping in touch!!
Geez....I missed this follow up about Bear, Chaos and hubby! Love the pictures!
Glad Floyd had such a good connection with your husband. 💖
Chaos certainly is living up to his name😉 As you know, he was meant to be with you and I'm so glad uou've been able to five him a lpving and secure home.
"TIPPY"....Of course you had to name him Tippy!
Yet again a very lucky little fella who found the perfect home and the perfect hooman to care for him.
It's always wonderful to hear from you. It gives us the opportunity to remind you how very special you are and how you have given so much love and care to the animals who desperately need it.
Hugs
