We tried a cone on Huck when he came out of anesthesia and he had it off before we got him home, lol. You will have to gauge how she does i think. Try the one you got. Bring it with you Saturday morning so they can put it on before they release her.
Im glad you have a decision you feel good with. Did you get pee pads?
I think separating her from the others for a bit is a really good idea. You don't need those kinds of problems right now.

Yes I did- I got world best litter- and I see its clumping and that's bad. Im getting Dr. Elsey senior cat non clumping now.
I also got the pheromone diffuser for the other cats and one for her room.
I didn't have a problem with it but everypawdy is different.
Meds... you should get them from the hospital or prescription for meds when you pick her up. Please make sure there's enough to last her❤

You've probably lready said, but s this an overnight fully staffed clinic? They will keep Pittens at least one night, possibly more. Just depends on her progress.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Hi Sumi! You are in wonderful hands with AMC (Sally - it's Griffin's same hospital, fully staffed overnight). I would encourage you to email Dr. Kennedy to ask what meds she is planning to send home with Pittens. You can then share that information here so others can weigh in with suggestions. Take a deep breath - you have made the decision and Saturday will be here soon enough. Spend time with Pittens tomorrow and remember that you are making this decision in love.

Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! They were supposed to call me today and didn't. But I assume they 100 percent will tmrw.
Im feeling super anxious about this whole thing. But I know everyone does _ I read the book and I saw so many people going through this- like Stacy in June.
Stacy - was a care coodianor automatically assigned to you or did you ask for one?
The pheromone diffuser is a GREAT idea! I had one, still do, lol. I purchased them because I slowly introduced Huck to his brothers, plus with him being feral I tried to help make him as comfy as possible. I do believe you have all of your important things covered. The only thing we didn't double check that I can think of was the food and broth. Does she have a favorite food that isn't dry? I say this only because keeping her hydrated will be high on your list of things to watch.
Breathe.. I know this is such a stressful time. How about you? Do you have all the things YOU need to just be able to stay at home for a bit? You need to take care of yourself too.. please don't forget that. She will need her mama to be calm and strong, easier said than done, right? They pick up on our emotions so easily. Especially with the bond that you have. I would take today to just cuddle and spoil her if you can.

HI Everyone!
So I herd back from the hospital. They are saying to maintain Pittens in the hard cone till recovery is over---- gosh...... This is not going to be good.
Medication wise- From Dr. Kennedy

It sounds like she offered you the option of the t-shirt instead of the cone? Did I misread?

She did in the email but then when I asked the care coordinator if they can switch her to the soft cone at least upon discharge she wrote this
The doctors would prefer the hard ecollar and not the soft one so they cannot medically recommend that we make that change. I think she should be okay, especially since she will be taking her medication and that will keep her calm. Please let me know if you have any other questions.The recommendation is to have the hard collar on for the entire recovery period. If you feel like she will not eat with it on, you may remove it while she is under your direct supervision and then just put it on again once she is done.
