Thanks for checking back to let us know how she's doing. I'm sorry the news isn't better. I'm curious too, how is her behavior? Is she still doing things she loves to do? Can she still get around?

I would agree that the CBD could be helping her with pain issues and appetite. If she's eating anything, the CBD might have something to do with it. That's good you can get her to eat a little. I hope it keeps up.

What were your vets' recommendations as far as where to go from here?

It could be that the CBD has helped to some degrees  and may still be able to.  It's worth asking about changing  up the dosage amount,  or even switching up the customization  of it.

Do you feel like  the Galiprant has helped ar all?

Is she still taking a little bit of food several times a day?  I love that she would take a few bites... slap you with her paw and look to you for more variety..

While things may not look good clinically,  how is she doing "outwardly"?  Does she still have some  Pixie "sass"?

Sending  extra hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Thank you Benny and Jerry.

Her energy level further down, do not want to move unless necessary, like hungry for food or goes to litter box or drinks water.  So, she does not go to bother the one she used to pick on.  I suspect that she probably very is uncomfortable while being held up (have to touch her belly or hand under her belly reach her chest) because she mews louder than before.  for example Sunday, i took her to walk around in backyard by holding her in my arms, she was fine but this morning, when i held her up to go backyard, she kept mewing.    But to me, she is still eating, request to eat and goes up to and down from 2nd floor on her own , it is not a time to consider let go of her.  I am trying to find something that could help on her belly issue.

And please let me know by not giving positive encouragement if it is time, at your experiences, to let her go.  No worries that i fully understand what i need to do but some times, at our selfish, our beloved family member could be put in great suffer.  I may contact with a mobile vet* to evaluate Pixie's condition in addition to Dr. Leong.  One of the reasons i took Pixie weekly acupuncture is that Dr. Leong could let me know if Pixie has not quality of life.  My primary vet clinic is too busy, many vets and schedule is always full.  Luckily, most of front desk ladies (yes, it has usually 2 or 3 front desk) knew me (sigh i am one of its top customers) then they could squeeze me in.  but not always lucky.

This is her picture this morning.  https://1drv.ms.....g?e=QgLg55

CBD could still help, i increased the dosage from 0.2cc to 0.3cc a week ago.  CBD vendor's instruction described that I could increase it up to 0.5cc  (if my memory is correct).  This morning, i increased it to 0.35 cc (control under 0.4cc), hate to over dose her.

She eats small portion a time.  I have opened more than 10 bags of different brand kitten food (high calories) but she ditched most of them.  Currently, she is fine with Purina One Kitten, Blue Buffalo Kitten (chicken) and occasionally Hills T/D.  Since i have to work, i order a SurePet microchip feeder for her.  It shall arrive tomorrow.  Hope it can help her to eat more.

*This mobile vet has helped me in several occasions.

You are so welcome! It can feel very lonely when you are trying to figure out what is quality of life for a beloved animal. And unfortunately nobody can really answer that question but you, because you know her best. Unfortunately, eating is not a good indicator of quality of life, since many animals will eat right up until the end. So then the question is, where do you go from there? Well I think having your other vet come in to evaluate her is a great idea, and they can get a close look at her physical condition to tell you what to expect. Let us know what they say OK?

We are sending tons of love to you and Pixie! Thank you for the photo, hope to see more of your beautiful girl.

thank you Jerry.

I squeezed Pixie into the mobile vet's busy scheudle today.  In deed her belly is hard.  It was not the time yet but the vet wanted me to watch her not to let her jump up to or down from heights too often.  After home, she immedately ate some food.

As least now, i have clear direction or the thought of the point that Pixie reaches the point of quality of life.  And, the vet agreed to send her coworker, also a vet, to my home if the time is a Saturday or she would come to my house in between her schedules if it is a weekday.*

*you are correct, when come to the point of losing quality of life, only the owner knows the time.  but  it was so distressed when you know the time has come but no mobile vets could help.  I had troubles to find a mobile vet for Miri, my 4rd angel cat.  Eventually, i took her to my primary vet.  As soon as I put her into a bamboo basket (layered with soft towel and a dog training pad) she immedately in deep sleep all the way to vet office and never wokeup, so peacful.

You are so welcome. This is such a tough time, it never gets easier. I'm really glad you got Pixie to see the vet, and you have made a plan. May it bring you comfort knowing she will not be stressed out when her time comes (hopefully no time soon). When it does, Angel Miri will be looking out for her, I know it.

Right now, just spoil that girl rotten as you are already doing. Snuggle on the couch, give her lots of love from us, and know that we are keeping you in our hearts.

I tell ya' what...I wish every dog or cat had this kind of selfless love from their hoomans that  you are showing Pixie.  To love her enough to make sure that, whenever the time does come, you know in your heart you are releasing her because Pixie needs to go, rather than keeping  her because  you need her to stay.

Yes, you do know Pixie best and you will so when Pixie can no longer be Pixie,  The Pixie who enjoys laying in  the sun, grooming herself, bring fully engaged in all the Joy's life has to offer.  You will know when jer earth  clothes  no longer serve her and she needs to shed them and run free.

But it's not today and not tomorrow.   And you need not think any further than that.  Just continue  to take each day at a time.   You have a wonderful Vet to take care of whenever  she needs to be released, and your only "task" is to continue to love and spoil sweet Pixie

Give her some extra ear scratches for us, okay?  And be sure and take some selfies with uoj and Pixie together.  We would love to see them!

(((((((((Hugs)))))))))

Thank you Jerry and Benny.

Pixie is still with me but it could be this week or next.  Her eating picked up since last Thursday, it was almost normal, at least 60% to 7x% of her normal eating.  It could be her last few good days*.   in the meanwhile, she ate around several grams (3-10, my guess) of unsalted/unsweetne butter every day since last week.  today, she already ate 13 grams in the morning.

Sent an email to Dr. Leong for butter issue, she replied that if Pixie had no diarrhea, it could go up 20 grams twice a day.  No trying to keep her but as long as she comes quickly and mews to me as soon as she smells butter in dish and her belly is not excessive big, I give her time.

last saturday, Pixie did her possible last visits to dr. Leong and primary vet (different clinics but all in Orange county CA in one trip).  both vets had same opinion, Pixie had jaundice and has not much time left.  Understand it and well prepared, i keep my eyes on Pixie and will call mobile vet as soon as her health starts to decline.

*some lives, including human, could get (looks) healthy and normal a few days before they leave for good. No sure, whether Pixie is in this stage.

Yoir selfless love for Pixe brings me to tears.  The bond you jave with her is beautiful, absolutely  beautiful.

No, this part of the journey is not easy.  When love guides us though, it does bring  us hoomans some comfort.  And when we know we have sone everything  possible to extend their earth time with as much quality  as possible,  that also brings us comfort.

I love that Pixie shows her sparkle self when she knows she's going to get butter!

And it is so true.  Of ten human beings and animal beings  to seem to really and have some good days (or longer) before their earthly departure.   I think on a Soul level, the Spirit is excited  to be released soon AND excited  to know they are leaving us with good memories prior.

All that matters right now is that Pixie IS eating better and, all things considered,  she still finds joy in her day.  Butter?? Who knew?   Aybe she'd like a tiny piece of mashed potatoes  swimming  in butter

Extra hugs♥️♥️♥️

It's good to hear from you, I'm sorry that it's not better news. But you are doing everything right for your girl! Let the butter dishes continue, spoil that girl rotten! That's so cute she is able to tolerate the butter, sounds like she really loves it and if the vets approve, then why not?

You are so right, as is Sally, in that many times animals and people rally before they are ready to let go of this world. I love the way Sally put it, she has such a way with words:

I think on a Soul level, the Spirit is excited  to be released soon AND excited  to know they are leaving us with good memories prior.

Exactly! I think when they rally, that's their way of telling us "I'm ready." For animals, we get the choice to help them transition at that point. It's such an honor, as hard as it is for us.

We are keeping you and Pixie in our hearts and sending tons of buttery love your way. Keep us posted.

thank you Sally and Jerry!  Animal is always wiser than human.  They know the time to start a new chapter.  Only human in grief.

I let Pixie go late afternoon yesterday.  A mobile vet came to help at my house. She moved on quietly and peacefully in my arms.  it was so hard so hard.

icon_cryicon_cryicon_cryicon_cryicon_cryicon_cry

Cremation service picked up her body this morning, private cremation.   She was clean, no potty, only little bit liquid from her nose, just like my Miri and Vogue-Gigi.  thanks the ONE for taking her in in such beautiful way

I would like her to stay but not in form of no quality of life and when she was ready.    At least, i know that she is happy now and no more illness.

Thank you again for the supports.

Oh my gosh my heart broke when I saw this news, I'm so sorry! You did everything possible for Pixie, and it's clear she was a family member who was treasured and adored. She left this world with dignity, and surrounded by true love. No cat could ever ask for a better transition to their next place in the universe.

It has been an honor to be part of your journey with Pixie. We learned and grew because you took the time to invite us into your life and we are so thankful. Her legacy lives on, always.

Many many hugs coming your way. We are keeping you close in our hearts during this sad time.
