Re ind uour "muse" this is MAJOR surgery and it's  still very early. Ge rurally, ot takes a good two weeks or more to recover  from the surgery itself, and then about thirty days to adjust to jer three leggedness.  And, as with any seniors, recovery from major surgery doesn't  happen over night.  And, on top of that, she is on pain meds.  Like any animal, she's feeling  vulnerable right now and doesn't  feel like a pawty yet.

It's  hard ro remember  during recovery, but keep in mind you are doing this FOR her and not TO her.. Celebrate all her victories she's already achieved!

You're  doing a great job of staying  strong and confident! Ivy will pick up on your energy.

Hugs

Well,  if it makes you feel better at all,  my kitties don't go out on harness, leash,  or anything,  lol.

I can see me pulling each claw out of my face as i try to tell them it's ok, lol🤯🤯🤯

This is a very emotional experience,  as well as physically taxing. Physical in the sense of all that nursing,  lack of sleep,  running around doing all your regular stuff PLUS making sure your furbaby thrives...talk about sucking the life outta you!!

Give yourself a break,  please.  Hug your husband,  cry together,  and then look at your girl and really look at how well she's doing.  She's not ashes in a box that you're grieving over.  She's ALIVE and thriving.

You are still so early in recovery.  And still she is doing so well... you got to see her run! Please take a breath,  step back,  and give yourself credit for the progress that you've made.  This really is a huge accomplishment.  We have all been there.  And that light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter❤

Thanks Jackie.. I haven’t cried -I think- because I saw that there was a light at the end of it all.. the whole not in a box thing lol I get it! Hubbie seems to just look at her and shake his head in pity.. I understand to an extent. But I try to tell him she’s the same Old ivy we had- with a physical obstacle.. lookin forward to staples being removed and her fur growing back so that she looks more “normal” to him?????? Idk.. don’t want him to pity her forever.

I do not like -however- that her sister hisses at her every time they cross paths. I think it’s part of the reason ivy is in hiding and THATS not fair. I’d like to amputate my other cat’s bad attitude.

I think you're doing great. This experience really helps us see that we, and our animals, are so much more than body parts. Your husband will come around too I'll bet. It's still soon and you are doing GREAT at bringing out the pawsitivity deep down inside.

Lol@ amputating the 'tude!! Oscar was the prince of the house.  I have had him since he was 5 weeks old.  He was a feral kitten. I guess i loved and mama'd him so much that when Huck came in he must have felt threatened.

I have Feliway spray and plug in diffusers in the high traffic areas in the house.  It does help.  I still have to give Oscar special attention but this has helped a great deal.  The spray is great for the cat tree and other shared areas.

Cats are so sensitive to changes.  Once Ivy is healed,  sutures out and back to her normal self i do think you'll see changes. In the meantime that might help.

Also... when you take Ivy to the vet's,  if you can somehow separate them for even just a little bit that can help.  Just the smell of the clinic can set them off.

I hope some of this helps.  Please hang in there,  you are totally rocking this❤❤❤

Good advice all! Idk clover is always a snot.. from the day I brought my now 6 year old home from birth lol... big baby! Ivy’s the only one who lets the girls near her... clover (Ivy’s sis) they are scared of- wont pass her for fear of being smacked and hissed at. So now ivy is the target of the big bully!

Yep, but Huck was a feral adult.  He comes running to me if Oscar shows his butt, but if I'm not there he will meet him face to face fearless.  I don't know which is worse lol.

I can tell when the pheromones are needing to be replaced for sure!!

Give it a minute.  Once this is over they may be just fine.  Oscar and Huck actually play sometimes. Try the diffuser and give it a few days.  The diffuser is called comfort zone.  I get mine on Amazon and refill when things get crappy.

Hi friends! Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Ivy is getting her stitches out tomorrow! Yaaaay! She’s doing ok- going to chat with vet about her kitty sister tormenting her enough that she doesn’t quite come out of the closet except to eat and drink and use litter box.. hope all is well with all of you! Will update after  tomorrow!

So great to hear Ivy is doing well😊  Truly Ivy is at the top of your of things to be thankful for this season❤

The ,kitty  experts will continue  to chime in on handling Ivy being intimidated  by her  "naughty"  sister.  Maybe Iby will feel a bit more like speaking her mind to her sister and start reclaiming  her position  in the pack.
