My little Lucy had a repaired fracture that rebroke in a week and the foreleg was amputated. Now her other foreleg seems to be injured  I hope it is just the extra work she has been doing- one leg doing the work of two, but she was doing so well within 12 hrs of the surgery. Now I worry that this is a new injury. I  have confined her to a crate  since the surgery last Friday and check on her constantly and I don’t know what happened. I have a message to the surgeon.   I hope this post is ok. I have been having a hard time navigating this site with my cell phone. Thank you.

Hi Kathy, welcome! I'm sorry that Lucy is having some recovery issues. What are some of the signs that she might be injured? It does sound like she could be really tired from working that one front leg, or could have slipped when you didn't see her at some point. Is she free roaming the house?

I'm glad you called your surgeon. Be sure to jot down her symptoms so you can give a good description. Also, talk to the vet about pain control. If she isn't getting enough that could also be why she is appearing injured.

Meanwhile you want to keep her in a safe, small recovery space at least until stitches come out. Prevent her from climbing high onto perches, or getting stuck under furniture. Just keep her activity to a minimum.
