Thank you for that,  I actually did that yesterday.  I got a cardboard box,  cut it down to about the size of his cat box,  put a blanket in it (mistake). Took the blanket out and left it bare and he crawled into it on his own until I scared the crap out of him this morning trying to get him into the carrier.  After the first miss he superglued his butt to the litter box. I tried to scoop him,  he said h*'ll no and jumped into the litter. If looks could have killed I would not be typing right now lol 😈😈

I told the doctor right out that if these were normal circumstances we would not be having this problem,  but he really is special and dragging him back and forth was not good for any of us.  I think she's finally getting it....DOH!!👆👆👆👆👆

We just got an update.  Huckleberry will be spending the evening.  He's running a temp so he needs stronger antibiotics.  They are working on getting the fever down and making him comfortable.  I'll get an update tomorrow.

So the little teeny bit of "silver lining" in leaving him for the night....the fever may not have been discovered had they just given him an injection and se t him home.

And from the looks of that photo, Huckleberry is unbelievably content being there!  He's probably so relieved to have his pain lessened, he may even start thinking going to the Vet is a good thing!

You and David get some much needed rest.  Thi gs always seem better after a good rest!

I have no idea what happened all my Wordpress went to junk mail just seeing this !!

Ditto Sally I am sorry he has a fever but that is silver lining with him staying they have discovered it & just a refresher did they give him the Convenia injection long lasting antibiotic they were going to originally?

Any reason given on fever? If the Convenia injection was given it should of lasted 14 days? It's a strong antibiotic, Are they saying his incision is infected if so was it swabbed so they know what they are treating? Is it possible this is a reaction to the the Convenia injection?  Some animals can have reactions to these drugs ! Things to consider & ask.

I am sorry for yet another bump in the road! I know your having to be worried and just beside yourself! Just know you did the right thing he is where he needs to be & really hoping you get a update the fever is broke and the Prince Huckleberry will soon be ready to return home!

Omw, you and I are so much alike.  I didn't go totally down that path as I don't know enough about Convenia. I have been out of the practice too long. My thought was more: so this wonder drug is not all that,  is it? Evidently you haven't done your homework so now you know you need a different drug? Hmmm... amputation -- pain management ,  important??  YES!!!  I am a sarcastic sonofagun, I'm a Yankee,  sorry.   I'm hanging in, waiting for what she says tomorrow.  It's not going to hurt her,  just another $150.00 for her tomorrow...ugghhh. I am seriously thinking of continuing on my  "Once and done" vet visits til i meet somebody worthwhile.  Thanks for  understanding. I know he's ok. He's getting what he needs to get him back home to me,  that will be what I work on.

Day 6

Got a check in from the doctor. His temp is almost normal (103.1), they have given him sub-q fluids, and he is eating again. She wants to keep him another night. I asked her why the fever if he got a two week injection, her response was that she didn't want to start out with the "big guns" unless necessary. Idk.. I asked her what medication he was receiving and I did not get a straight answer. I will find out later. She is not sure why he has a fever, questioned if it was from the injury, but then I would have thought she would know after doing pre-anesthetic bloodwork which we gave permission to do when Huckleberry went in the first time to get his leg x-rayed. He should have, at that point, had a raised temp and/or a high white blood cell count. It's ok, he is being watched closely now, his crate is clean, bedding is clean, I am anxiously ready but stepping back for his benefit for the moment. He should be getting staples out on Monday (my day back to work) we are more than half way through this part. I will ask for a copy of all of his records once he is home.

Well, I got some good news. His temp is down to 102.1. He allowed somebody to give him his medicine by mouth. That is 2 good things that I did not expect today.  Maybe he will come home tomorrow.  The door to his room is open, we are both missing the little guy.  Just need to be patient...

David took me out to dinner for our anniversary, that was really nice.  I got the news while we were out, gave us both a smile.

Glad to hear his temp is down. Likely they didn't give Huckleberry the Convenia originally then. Something you would want to know & it will be noticeable on your bill.

Fluids can do wonders glad to hear he is eating & taking meds Huckleberry is feeling a lot better ! Yay Huckleberry! That is a Great Anniversary gift!

Happy Anniversary to you both!

Thank you very much smiley I was already charged for the shots from when I first picked him up. It's ok, right now they are just charging me boarding fees so I guess somehow they know something didn't go right.  I will not argue with them over this. I just want my little guy back and healthy. Honestly, that is my number one concern.  After we are through we will be through.  I have seen enough to know that I don't need to be going back there.  Thanks so much for the support, it means a great deal.  Hopefully soon I will have my hands full again and my little guy will be back where he belongs.  Andy has been looking around the house for him meowing everywhere, he is just too cute.

Jackie

laughinglaughing Thank you! I had to have David come over and see for himself big-grin Today is 9 years married that I have been driving that man to distraction, heheh.  We were really happy to hear that Huckleberry seems to be on the upswing of the mend, relieved also.  I will feel better when he is giving me "the look" while I am scooping the cat box and fluffing the blankies.

Thank you for the Anniversary wishes 🙂 🙂  I should be getting another update on Huckleberry shortly. I spoke with the doc around lunchtime. She told me that his temp was pretty much normal now. They are starting to see the wonderful furbaby that we adore so much, and he is letting them give his meds by mouth without too much protest. It seems he has stolen the hearts of a few of the techs there heartIf his day today was as good then he may be able to come home tomorrow! I am keeping my fingers crossed, and the doctor was much more pleasant today.  Keeping my fingers crossed that he stays stable and we will be able to pick him up tomorrow. I am so glad that he is allowing them to handle him, he is so shy and it has taken a lot to get him to come out of his shell and not be afraid. I will update as soon as I get news.
