Thanks Sally🤗 allergies hadn't occurred to me at all.  I've never seen anything like this at all.  When he's not doing this he acts perfectly normal.  He's eating,  drinking,  racing up cat trees, i don't know.  I'm going to do my best to stay pawsitive 🐾

Big hugs to you and your pack ❤️

Jackie, it is good to see you here, and like Sally I'm sorry it's because you are worried about him.

I do agree though that this could be an issue that isn't something awful. Usually, something like this is not as terrible as we imagine it to be! I'm so glad your awesome vet is still available. Please let us know how the visit goes, and remember we are always here for you. Thanks for sharing the adorable smoochable photos!

Thank you Rene 🤗 I hope he just has something lodged,  a hard booger, something simple.  Oscar came to me with upper respiratory / feline herpes and his eyes,  nose snotted everywhere 🤢 I'm more worried because there is literally no discharge even though he's a drooly kitty.  Huck must have been a Mastiff in his previous life because he drools, sneezes,  shakes his head and anybody near him wears it🤣 When he sits on my chest i hear what sounds like a stuffed up nose.  If they have to keep him,  knock him out,  xray, ultrasound,  I'll get it done.  This isn't a good time but is there EVER a good time? Nope! He's been a part of our family for 5 1/2 years... my goodness time flies.

I'm sorry I'm not around much.  Life is really a huge challenge right now and I'm still figuring out out.

Sending big hugs❤️

Hugs,

A hard booger and the very idea of Huck the Mastiff made me laugh Jackie! Even now you find something so funny to say 🙂

Don't apologize my furiend, you've got a lot going on your plate and we are just glad that you let us know what's going on. Lean on us when you need to but no pressure to post or anything, we get it. Hope that he just feels better before too long.

Thank you Rene and Sally. I went to get the gabapentin after work.. *sigh* I am going to be the lone burrito woman... lord help me. Maybe if I don't give him anything to eat for a day and then a special kitty snack I can get him to scarf it down, lol.

I can hear it now every time he breaths. He sounds like a 2 year old with a stuffy nose. I think I would feel better if he were snotty. I videoed the dry 'cough' to show the vet, now if I can get him to try to blow something out of his nose I can show her because you know once I get there he will be symptom free....

Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts. Every time I get something accomplished, something else happens and I am just overwhelmed right now.

That's a great idea to video it for the vet, it's so helpful to see a patient at home. I don't know what's worse, snot or no snot? Hmmm.

You are accomplishing something here Jackie! You caught these symptoms and instead of being an ostrich you are confronting them head on. That is HUGE and incredibly brave, I'm so proud of you!

So sorry for the late update. I had another family emergency and had to go home for a week. Huckleberry is doing better. We don't know everything that is going on with him yet, but it appears he had bronchitis and responded well to antibiotics. When the doc did xrays, she told me that one of his lungs had partially collapsed. She said he also has an enlarged heart, but no murmur has been detected. I took him home on Monday, and we are finishing his meds... although he is getting harder and harder to medicate over the last couple of days. He also has a tooth that may or may not need to be extracted.

So the plan at this time is to finish the second round of meds and try to get him in for an ultrasound. He has had no more coughing, no more sneezing, and is very much back to his old self.

I am not sure how I am going to schedule all of this as I will probably have to go back and forth to be with my family. My mom is not well and we don't have a lot of time left with her. A lot of this is wait and see, so if Huck continues to do well I will just take things as they come. On a scale of prioritizing, I have to put my mom first. David isn't here to hold down the fort anymore so it's really just me juggling things the best way that I can.

Ohhhh Huckleberry! I'm soooo glad he is doing better. The bronchitis totally makes sense. I hope you can get him to finish his meds without too much of a struggle. Any idea how he might have caught it?

I'm really sorry about your Mom. That's a tough place to be in under normal circumstances, my heart goes out to you for needing to be there during everything else going on in your life. Of course she comes first, and Huck is totally good with that (he says 'oh good now she'll stay away with those meds!'). Do what you need to do Jackie, you are stronger than you think and you can handle this like a pro. You already are.
