I found a new vet a while back. I met her when I adopted Andy, she did his complimentary visit. She has a totally different outlook on felines and urinary tract problems. I am going to have to do some research and brushing up now because I found this online today and it corroborates with her idea. I need to look further into this before I make any decisions.

Thank you 💓 mom and dad keep taking me to that place where they wet my belly with stinky stuff and then I get a pinch that hurts. After that I get a pinch on my backside and back to my mom and dad with a wet stinky belly. Once we get back home I run under the bed, but my new bro Huckleberry comes and finds me. He helps me get that stinky stuff off and then I start.to feel better.

Jackie, I read your story and Huckleberry is a very very lucky kitty. I love those cat trees. Are those on a screened in porch. When you wrote you were happy to see them all on the tree together i thought why? But them I read your story, and I thought ok, now I know. Huckleberry became part of your family. I have a feeling Huckleberry new what to do!

My Beautiful Beloved Brownie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on February 26, 2019.  With all odds against him he lived an additional one year and eight days with amputation, love, and prayer.  I was honored to be his mom, and I have never been so proud!  He will live forever in my Heart!

Those are in my sun room which go right into my kitchen.  Outside of that room is Huckleberry's old haunt in my yard.  We actually set the trap in the doorway to that room!

He's my cuddle bunny now,  amazing what time will do.  I was scared to death that he'd hate me after the surgery but i think he knew we were trying to help.

Thanks for checking out our story ❤

Big hugs,

Jackie and Huck ❤❤❤

How did the feral cat end up?  I have one that might need his foot amputated and unsure what to do,  it's his ankle.  He cannot be changed into our cat.  We did have him for a month in our bathroom and he never let us get near him.  We neutered him and then he got infection.  Now we have him again because his ankle is dislocated and needs a 4000-6000 surgery or his back leg amputated.  I heard he will have problems with this because he can't run from other animals,  etc and may get caught so was wondering how your feral did outside or did you keep him?

Thanks

Many believe releasing and amputee cat to be feral again is a death sentence. At the very least, it would need to be homed until completely recuperated, ideally with rehabilitation to rebuild strength, which would prove difficult if he is not friendly and cooperative in the first place. Building a Catio is the ideal solution for previously "outdoor" cats requiring amputation, to offer them the best of both worlds...

Huckleberry did fantastic! We had to work very carefully with him over several months total but he is now a happy, healthy indoor kitty. He lived in an XXL dog crate in our spare bedroom, and once we got to a point that we were slowly able to handle and cuddle him we started letting him in the room for brief periods of time. When we were not in the room, his crate was closed with him in it. I kept music on for him and kitty tv, lol. Eventually one by one I started letting my other kitties visit with him and finally gave him free run of the house.

He is a cuddle bug now, 2+ years later, and strictly indoor cat. He holds his own with the other cats and the dog... no problem at all. And he is like greased lightening when he runs!

I wish you well in your journey sp_hearticon2

Here is Huck's ampuversary video. A lot of love and patience went into rehabilitating him, but it was worth every moment sp_hearticon2

It has been quite a while since I posted here. I haven't been on the needing support end for Huckleberry in a very long time. Huck continues to do his thing and cuddles on the couch with me almost nightly. He has decided that sleeping next to me is more fun than sleeping on my pillow, but he still occasionally plops on my head to nap.

I am going to have to take him in to be seen by a doctor. I was really worried because I drove by the hospital that specializes in cats closed down quite a while ago. So I got online to seek out cat vets. Low and behold Dr. Mills did NOT retire, she just moved her hospital! I just got off the phone with a very nice man and after a lengthy Huck story we scheduled an appointment for next Saturday. He started telling me about this medicine to give Huck 2 hours before the visit. Said it's called Gabapentin... I started giggling like a girl, lol. I told him about Huck's post op treatment and he laughed, yep.. you're familiar with the drug!

Huck started sneezing a couple of weeks ago. He has also has a dry cough. The sneezing is not productive and happens in clusters. It almost sounds like he has something stuck up there and of course he won't let me look. I am praying that's all it is. The rest of me is worried about tumors, cancer, just awful things. I worry even more because nothing at all comes out when he sneezes or coughs.

If you have a moment, please say a prayer for my little man and keep pawsitive thoughts for him. I don't know what I will do if I lose him, especially now.
