LOVE the tree full of kitties!
Picked him up...yay!
Will he let you do some massage on the area? Elly does not like being picked up and only sits on my lap when she is nervous or scared. Maybe in she has a little cat in her mutt mash-up DNA. Her amp side does do some twitching when she does too much in a day. Although when I first got her she wouldn't let me touch her amp site, she now lets me do some massage. Sometimes just cupping the site with my hand settles things down, I guess from the heat in my hand. You could also try some heat on the area- maybe a warm wash cloth, you could put it in a plastic bag to keep him dry. I know my regular heating pads are too big for Elly.
I love seeing his progress in trusting you and David.

Hi Karen,
I am working on the massage, he let me last night after i noticed it and cupped my hand over it. Depends on his mood, I need to remind him a lot that he doesn't need to be afraid of me now that he's free. If I can get close enough to rub his cheek or chin I'm fine. Otherwise I think he'd revert back rather quickly. The washcloth in a plastic bag is a good idea. I will try that. I had to muckle him a bit and hold tight for a few seconds while I was talking to him, once I got my hand on his face he totally relaxed and made up for head butting time😊 I think he cherishes that as much as I do. I told David we have to be a constant reminder that we are not the enemy. Thank goodness we are Andy and Oscar's pawrents, and he naturally looks to them for direction. You have the patience of a saint with little puglets ❤❤
Big hugs,
Jackie

Stewie and his Pack ❤️❤️❤️
Doing a tired hoppy dance, the weekend is here, YAY! We have had a pretty good week Huckleberry is watching and learning. 2 scary events 🤤 Huckles did a Houdini trick for David, unfortunately it was right after he had taken all the groceries in... poor thing looked for over half an hour, even started searching the garage. When he came back, this is what he found:
I'm innocent I tell ya!
Whew... then yesterday was the barkuum 😲😲
He found his way into our bedroom and hid for a while. I finally begged him out. Yes, we hadn't used the big bad barkuum since we moved him downstairs butt something had to give 🤔
-We cuddled next to mama on the couch😋
And we got totally spoiled

congratulations to both hoomins and fur babies for this!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rusty "The Bunnyman" adopted us in 2014. Aug/Sept 2017, back left leg amputated (HSA cancer). He remained cancer free over 900 days. Cancer returned as of emergency visit on day 931. 15 days later, he gained his wings 04/18/2020 due to congestive heart failure. He will always watch over his fellow tripawds and their hoomins with Head Scritches and Sand Paper Kisses.
((((Gina)))) he really is doing well 😊 your little man looks wonderful also, omc he is sooo handsome! Huckleberry is calming down quite a bit. He's getting less scared and more curious every day. I don't know if I'll get him into his bandana any time soon but we're working on it 😽

I haven't gotten him to wear his bandana. Matter of fact he was a PITA today. I had a couple of videos, but then I realized they came out bad. I finally just got a pic of him WITH his bandana 😽
Omc when he is wound I want to clip his nails back, but I'm kind of afraid to do that and have him lose traction , sigh. One day at a time ❤

Having a lazy Sunday morning over here, finally Sipping on my coffee, David is playing his guitar, and the little ones are chilling out on this fine Sunday morning. I have been reflecting on everything that has happened over the last couple of months, and even before that when Huckleberry was living in our yard. It is really unreal how far we have come. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride and it feels like life is starting to fall back into place for us. We have a routine now, and it is really nice. Huckleberry is fitting in like a glove. I have adopted and fostered a handful of furbabies but I have never seen an adult cat come in and go through a "kitten-hood" before. I am certain he never had that. My feelings on it is that he was separated somehow from his mama and family long before he was ready to have that happen. I am thankful that my boys were so willing and able to fill those big brother shoes. They don't always know what to do with Huckleberry, but they have been nothing less than loving and patient with him. And he looks to them for everything before he reacts. You can see his little brain wanting to panic and flee when there is a new noise, or if one of us doesn't see him and walks by too quickly. Then he looks around to see if one of his big brothers is close by. When he sees that they are calm and that there really is no need to get keyed up and panic, he kind of sits back to really observe what is going on, and then he is ok again. It is like magic, and in moments like this I feel so good about following this journey out and giving him a chance to have a family. I was so worried that once he started healing he would feel like an unwilling captive, jailed to being inside a house that he didn't want to be in. I don't feel that way any longer, I think Huckleberry is coming in to his own now
Speaking of being thankful, on this Thanksgiving weekend I know that I have many things to be thankful for. I have a wonderful husband who is my partner in crime for life. He is my best friend, I don't know what I would do without him. When we started this venture he was "all in" and never looked back. I am thankful to have the support and friendship of the wonderful people that I met here. I know I was a basket case when we found out everything that we did with Huck, and so many people reached right out and helped us through his pre and post surgery care. I will forever be thankful for that. I have never met so many wonderful people that are so genuine and kind. Thank you all for helping me to help Huckleberry have a chance at life.
Love you guys!

So pleased to hear this for both Huckleberry and your whole family!

I thought the very same thing about our feral Miss Lily! It has been and continues to be a ton of fun!

Your boys have been amazing and will continue to be great mentors for Prince Huckleberry!

This is an amazing community that is there to help us and our fur babies through immensely difficult times! Thanks for pointing it out and reminding us on such a special day.
The great thing is, because we celebrate Thanksgiving on separate days, we will be that much more grateful for each other online!
Hugs to all your brilliant kittens and all the best to you and David.
Stewie, Spitfire Spike, Chester McFiend, Miss Lily and of course Petra & Paul
Glad to hear everything if falling into the new normal and yes look how far you have come in such a short time, the feline family is really something this could of went so many ways and it went the best way pawsible!! YAAAAAAAY
As for basket case well none of us would know a thing about that Just saying we all join in the “basket case” frantic state!
Huckleberry got more then a second chance he won the kitty lottery as Sally would say❣️
We all have a lot to be grateful for & we are furever grateful for the site and the support and the special community here at Tripawds.
We also thank you for all the help you have given back!
Hope Andy had a good vet visit!
❤️
Andy Panda got lucky, we also got lucky it seems. He was on his way to another blockage and it was caught in time. We had no idea, he wasn't showing any signs. His urine had white cells, bacteria, and struvites in it, arghh The doc asked me if he had been cleaning excessively, I told her about Huckleberry's new favorite thing to do which is bathe Andy, lol. Whatever caused it, we got it in time and he's on antibiotics. Back on the strict diet, recheck in 2 weeks. Whew, was a close call.
Hugs
I hope your Gram is starting to feel better!
