Great question! We love the VetMed Recovery Suitfor dogs and are pretty confident it works just as well for cats, but I can't wait to hear feedback from our Trikitty parents!

We had one member rear legger use the vet good suit with success. Tia the tripod cat https://tiathec.....om/page/3/
I would look at both suites and, of course, run it by the surgeon for the ok first.
I have no idea if this is still available, but worth asking if you have time & it's the right size.
OFFERED: Size S Cat Recovery Suit
Best of luck

I honestly can't add input to suits, Fuzz was given a plastic collar for "just in case" from the surgical clinic It was never used. I also prepared some small baby tshirts and had a couple small dog tshirts to have ready but he required no covering or collar during his healing phase. He had staples and those came out after a bit under 2 weeks. He was restricted to a bathroom with limited floor space but was able to move around and access a kitten sized litter box. Tile floor was covered with pee pads and rugs for traction and he had a couple warming pads and fleece beds to sleep on. My boy was poster child of front leg amputation recovery. He was up eating within 12 hours of his surgery and was up and moving within 24. His recovery was smooth and easy. Had him on gabapentin throughout his recovery phase ( about 4 months or so) and he also came home with a antiinflammatory/steroid for a couple days. My advice if not needed then I would go without any type of covering or collar to reduce stress even more! Cats are amazing and fast healers especially with lots of love! Also they adapt quickly as my boy who had his amputation due to osterosarcoma in his right scapula was literally running around and climbing stairs within days of his surgery. After staples came out he was pretty much back to normal.
I don't want to spend money I don't need to but on the other hand I want to be prepared. Our current surgeon says she "hides" the stitches under the skin (no need to remove them) so he won't have anything like that to pull at. When he had his eye removed he didn't bother with those stitches. Didn't even rub at it.
Not sure what to do.

I can't blame you, amputation isn't cheap. You could always come home with the conventional cone of shame that costs hardly anything, just in case. Some pets are just better at dealing with stitches than others. But if he does go for the incision, you'll need to practice tough love and make him use the cone.

My cat has his rear leg amputated a week ago and has stitches. Can I use the recovery shirt over the stitches? He's been wearing the e-collar, but I know he cannot stand it. I was thinking of getting him a shirt, but I'm wondering if it will rub the stitches or irritate it. I was planning to sew up the side on the leg that was amputated.

VetGood makes a Surgery Recovery Suit specifically for cats. VetMedWear will custom tailor their recovery suit for whichever leg is missing. See them all here.

We got permission to use the onesie from our surgeon. We did not have any issues with the onesie rubbing on the incision. I changed them daily and checked the incision a couple of times a day. Purrkins is a front leg amp. I do not have any experience to share on rear legger onesie. If it works for you guys, please start a new topic and let everyone know, please.
Heal well, buddy!

Well check out the MEGA memory on Purrkins!
How are you doing, Holly? It's heartwarming to see you and Jerry are still helping folks out in this lovely community. Thanks for all you do! It is great to revisit this awesome place.
I have fond memories of that recovery suit. I got mauled trying to put that thing on Raven. I would have had better luck trying to stuff a honey badger in a Halloween costume!
So better luck to Barb and Lucky! We wish you well in recovery. It seems a little worrisome in the beginning, but know the future is brighter ahead for sure.
Highest regards,
Mark
Hi, Mark, good to see you, and thanks for sending Lucky Raven's suit! Mega brain hehe yea it is not what it used to be it comes and goes these daze;) pandemic brain!🥴
All good considering hope you and the Warden are doing well! Raven was a little spitfire, lol. Hopefully, Lucky is a little less & does not mind wearing clothes.
A little worrisome?! Yea
I think you have the pandemic brain, too, Mark;) Yes, it is w/o a doubt but hold onto we do this for our furmily, not to them. And yes, the future is bright give recovery two weeks with great pain meds!
Thanks again, Mark; big hugs to you and the Warden!
We are sending spirit kisses to Raven.✨

Mark it is so good to hear from you! I think of Raven often, and refer to her story many times to help new Tripawds parents. When I saw you still had her recovery suit to give to someone here, I was so hoppy! How sweet!
I hope life is treating you guys well despite all the craziness that's happened since we last chatted. Through it all, the good people like you in this community keep us grounded 🙂
