Hello! My kitty Paco is 22-23 years young. I’m 28 So I have had him most of my life. His left femur is fractured in to four pieces [Image Can Not Be Found] he went missing for a day and was found by my neighbor. After being on fluids at the hospital for about 38 hours now he is stable and we are prepping him for amputation tomorrow. It has been a lot of me fighting everyone for his right to live because people often question old cats and what they are capable of. They were worried it was cancer, they are worried his kidney levels were high. But my family vet has faith and wants to see his kidney levels after 60 hours of fluids. Praying I get to bring my kitty home and he gets an extra chapter to his life. Wish us luck! Ive read so many stories on here that are giving me hope because I know he would be here healthy if I hadn’t let him out of my sight!

WOW!  23 yrs young!!  Good job!!!

Your love for Paco comes shining  through and clearly  you are doing  everything  possible  to give him a quality life.  ❤   I understand  the concern of your family and friends.  They are also coming from a caring place and just want to make sure Paco has a quality  life.❤

It sounds as though the Vet is doing all the necessary  work ups to eliminate  that the cause of the fracture was not  a result  of osteo and to ensure the kidney values, heart, etc are stable.

We are all sending  out pawsitive healing energy  for you amazing  "mature" kitty!👍   Keep us posted, okay?

Hugs

Jaimie and Paco - wow, 23 years together. Obviously you have a wonderful bond and good for you for doing the best you can for Paco.

Although my cat Mona was much younger when she had her amputation, last year at 13 years old she was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease because she had a bladder and kidney infection for about 6 weeks. Her kidney levels were not good; however, at her 6-month blood work and then 12 month and then again 6 weeks later they all showed her kidney levels are now normal. After being a tripawd for 6 years it looks like she has arthritis in her pelvic area so she's now on a low-dose of Metacam for Cats which is an anti-inflammatory.

Although younger than Paco, I wanted to show Mona is an example where kidney disease can be managed through proper diet, fluids and monitoring. It sounds like your vet is on it.

Wishing you luck!

Oh no! Jamie we are so very sorry. What a heartbreaker, it’s so hard to imagine something like this, and we send our love and condolences to you and your family.

If and when you are ready to talk, we are here for you. For now know that you did everything you could for Paco, and he left this world knowing he was a cherished part of your family.

No  mafter how long our pets are with us, it's never long enough.

I know one thing for certain, for PacO to even make it to 23 years means that he was loved and cared for far better than most cats ever get to experience.  You and Paco had the privilege  of being together  in a way and with a depth of bond that to be envied  by all.

Paco clearly is  a wise Soul.  You have to know that he felt his mission on earth was complete.  He created THOUSANDS of happy memories with you to make you smile anytime he crossed your mind.  Paco knew he wanted to exit on his own terms and in his own way.  He was excitedly looking forward to his next chapter at the Rainbow Bridgre.  He''ll connect with you to let you know he arrived safely, healthy and young again!!!

We are here for you.  We understand the depth of your love and the depth of your loss. We also understand Paco ks watching  over you and snuggly nestled your heart furever♥️

Hugs
