I'm so so sorry!  Having nursed many barn kittens in my years I know how quickly this can happen.  Seemingly fine one second and gone the next.  Know you did all you could..no one could have done more for sweet Butters.  You infused her life with love...you cared for her when not many would have.  You were her champion!  Fly free new Angel!  You were loved!

I am so sorry to read about little Butters. I bet that baby was so glad to have you in her life for the time that she had. Thank you for giving her every chance. It is all we can ever do and so many people don't do that, so you are an angel in my eyes and I am certain you are one in hers.

I am sure my Three Paw is guiding her now. Keeping her safe and giving her all the love she needs.

Bless her little soul

Thank you all for your kind words! They have helped me get out of the “What if” mindset and more into the “we did everything we could” mindset. They have also helped me explain things better to my 6 year old who has the biggest heart and who loves all animals at first glance, especially cats (one of the few traits he got from me).

It has taken me a few days to process and realize that I was grieving more for the cat that she wasn’t able to be. Her last few days were safe and warm which is much better than if we would have left her in the drain.

Thanks again. This is one of the best communities and I am very glad that I was able to be a part of it even though it wasn’t for long ❤️.

You did everything you could do for Butters kittens are tough, and they are fragile so many things could have gone wrong. As Linda said one minute they are fine and the next they are not!

None of which was your fault! Hold onto that she was loved and cared for and you gave her a fighting chance You showed her love that she would not have felt! That is a gift in itself to Butters. You were her angel I'm sorry this was your part in this but know she was loved and cared for and left knowing that!

Hugs!
