A Tribute to Lucca

On this day we want to salute one very special retired military working dog, the one and only Tripawd Lucca.

Lucca is an 9 year old German Shepherd/ Belgium Malinois mix. She is a Specialized Search Dog (retired) trained to search for explosives off-leash.

This courageous soldier girl made headlines around the world last year when she was reunited with her first handler after losing her leg in Afghanistan to an IED. Lucca is now a worldwide representative for retired military working dogs and of course Tripawds!

Earlier this year she won hearts everywhere when she appeared in the Rose Parade on the Natural Balance Salute to Military Working Dogs float.

Her public relations know-how has done wonders to spread the word that three legged canines from all backgrounds can live fabulous lives after amputation.

Thank you Lucca!
Here’s to you and retired military working dogs on Memorial Day 2013!
