Today on Tripawd Tuesday, meet Rufus Stink Eye. He’s a 6 year old Boston Terrier who was recently diagnosed with Histiocytic Sarcoma. His Momma Katie Jamieson wrote to us to share his journey with the community. She writes:
Rufus is a 6 year old Boston Terrier who loves playing “chase me around the garden”, loves singing “Happy Birthday” and can even ring a bell. But best of all, Rufus is known for flashing his famous Stink Eye.
Rufus was diagnosed with a Histiocytic Saroma (and lost his leg at the end of December).
Stink Eye is back to his delightful self and running around like he has always had three legs.
His incision is all healed up, his levels are all back to normal (almost) and he has regained the little weight that he lost post op.
After the tumor was removed, they sent his leg off to be tested and they found no additional cancer.
What is in store for Stink?
Well, we have got a one month follow up coming up where they will recheck his blood pressure, serum biochemistry profile, blood count and urinalysis. We will do some chemo to kill any additional cancer cells that may be floating around the rest of his body. He will also need another ultrasound and xray around the 6 month/1 year mark to make sure we are not missing anything.
The doctors only told us 1-2 more years but in my heart I feel like he has way more than that.

Clearly vets don’t take the individual dog into account when they have to come up with statistics!
Rufus doesn’t care about “no stinkin’ statistics”……!! As we say over in tripawd land, “statiscally speaking, nine out of ten statistics are wrong!”
Yuare just precious! Keep on enjoying life to the fullest and live in the NOW! Let NOTHING rob you of your time together! Lots of treats to Rufs! You deserve them!!
KAY…sorry to hear about the loss of your husband. I’m glad seeing these pictures reminds you of a happy memory of your husband. I think that’s his way of saying”hi sweetie” to you!

I’m praying for Rufus to have a long and happy life. My hubby used to take absolute pleasure looking at all your pictures and le loved Rufus the most because he “looks like he has an attitude.” (his words). He also said numerous times that he would love to work there. He loved dogs very much. Sadly Hubby lost his battle with cancer in Sept. 2013. But every day when I look at the pictures of all the “Happy Dogs” I think of him looking over my shoulder. Thanks for being part of the happy memories he left me. 🙂
