Hi,

First, my vets know I would do anything for my fur babies.... ANYTHING!!!

My regular vet is Dr. James Fischer in Montgomery NY. He's been great at identifying issues like my dog's food allergies and helping us through Champ's cancer diagnosis and treatment. He is also the surgeon we used for the spleenectomy and most recently amputation. Since my dog knows the people there I think this helped with any anxiety, both mine and Champ's... lol.

My oncologist is Dr. St.Vincent of Advanced Veterinary Care in Newburgh, NY. She specializes in Radiation and Chemotherapy. She does have a surgeon that works out of there but because of my comfort level with Dr. Fischer I did not use her surgeon. I know that people come from all over the northeast (including up to Boston) to see Dr. St Vincent.

I'm hard-headed, do a lot of research, and heavily advocate for my children (both 4-legged and 2-legged.. and now 3-legged as well) so I think, no matter how great a vet is, YOU know your child the best and need to balance what they say with what you feel in your gut is right.

To be honest, both vets felt the prognosis was very poor and did not strongly push me towards curative measure but rather toward paliative measures. Yes, I don't even want to know how much I've spent altogether. And yes, I could have bought a really REALLY nice car for what I've spent. But I'm happier with a 1989 Honda Civic and my healthy tripawd.

Cool! Just reponded to your other post when I saw this. Thanks for letting people know about Champ's docs!
