The bathroom is ready, we have his new bed.  My friend is giving me a piece of FitPaws equipment.  I pick him up after work tonight.  I'm nervous.  He was my nosework partner and conformation show dog but I've promised he could finally retire.  I want him to build strength but not overdo it.

Awww what a great homecoming it will be! Be strong and remember that this recovery is only temporary, things will get better. Stay pawsitive and he will too.

And he does nosework? Oh my gosh! That is such an awesome way to keep a Tripawd active and fit, neither one of you may want to retire when you see how much he can do on three legs. Check out this recent News Blog post that features a video of our super duper rock star obedience/rally-o Tripawd, Spirit Maggie. I have a feeling that Adam is going to keep on rockin' for a long, long time.

Keep us posted on how it goes.

He's home!!!  Oh glory be he's home and acting surprisingly normal.  He has a fentyl patch that will last him about a week, tramadal, cephalexin and his previcox.  He insisted on walking to the car, which wasn't far so I let him and now he's laying in the bathroom probably still seeing pink elephants but very happy to be home and pee in his own yard.  He's already growled at an aussie who got to close to the baby gate to sniff him.  Now for 2 more weeks of the cone of shame

He's definitely one of those "I can do it myself" dogs so I'll have to reign him in a bit, make sure the one aussie doesn't lick his sutures and let him heal.  I don't want him blowing his one remaining ACL that's for sure!

Oh so happy he is home. Try a soft collar they are less cumbersome than the cone.  Remember he will have his ups and downs. Hooray for Adam!

Welcome home, Adam!

So glad to see this post and that Adam is keeping his fursiblings in their place.

The next few weeks may be a bit of a roller coaster but meds (for Adam), chocolate (for you) and lots of snuggles for both of you will help a lot!

We have now pooped.  We didn't dare tell them that he was raw fed figuring how little they would offer him would not be an issue so the kibble set him off a little.  Once again he was "don't bother me, I'm handling it" and my husband had to drop the lead and could not catch up with him before he tried to take the steps up to the house.  Silly boy.  Need to get a long line on that dog out in the yard.

Time to break out the champagne.  I got a call from the surgeon today.  Biopsy results are in.  Downgraded to a grade 2 tumor, no evidence of metastasis!!!!!!  No guarantee but I'll take it.  It makes taking the leg all worth it to me if that means he can live out the rest of his life cancer free or at least free from that particular tumor.
