First of all I kind of feel bad that I have been posting so much on here, but it's one of my best outlets right now. I have been doing really well and I was actually happy a little while ago because my baby was eating ice cubes. But now all of the sudden I had to go into my room and cry because I got really upset when my boy started shaking. Tonight will be the first night that he is off the pain patch and I feel like the heavy drugs are moving out of his system. I just hurts so bad to see him in pain and I feel guilty about it. I just want to take his pain away. Also now I'm feeling fearful of cancer coming back after all this... I think I am overwhelmed with emotions right now. I'm so very up and down... I'm sure many of you have felt the same way... anyways thank you everyone for listening I just needed to vent... again

Don't feel bad. It's a tough and stressful time. But you and Marley are that much closer to being through the recovery stage. It will get better.

Rocky and I are sending healing thoughts to you and Marley.

First off... never feel bad for posting. That's what we are here for. Lord knows I posted non-stop when I first started this journey.... It was a huge relief and helpful to get stuff off my chest / mind.

The first couple of days are SO tough and I remember where you were ... I wish I could help you fast forward to the better part but it is so upsetting to see them so distressed. Is he still on other painkillers? I would hope so. You will definitely want to make sure he's getting oral pain meds.

And yes, it feels overwhelming and too much .. but you are so much stronger than you think ... we all are! You can handle this. Have a good and healthy and cleansing cry ... grab some chocolate (or wine ) and be in the moment w/Marley. You WILL get through this!!! We are here for you!!!

Sending you hugs and love!!! And I'll check in tomorrow... keep us posted!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Post all you want!! That's what we all do...and that's why we are all here! It DOES help to write stuff down and sort of purge all the yucky thoughts out of your system!

No one should go through this "ordeal" alone and unsupported!

You really won't have any idea how exhausted you really are physically and emotionally until you start getting through recovery. The intense stress you've been under day in and day out getting to this point is ENORMOUS! You really won't grasp how strong you are until things become more "normal" for you.

If there's one gift that mh Happy Hannah gave me that I coukd pass onto anyone here....DO NOT LET ANYTHING ROB YOU OF YOUR TIME TOGETHER!!! LIVE JN THE NOW!!! STAY IN THE PRESENT!!! To give that piece of crap disease one single second worrying about the tomorrows gives it power over you. Your love is sooooo strong for Marley you will NOT let that piece of crap disease have ANY power over you. MARLEY SURE ISN'T GIVING IT A SINGLE THOUGHT!

So right now....RIGHT NOW.....your only focus will be living in the NOW with Marley and makr everyday MARLEY DAY!! 🙂

Now go give that sweet boy some more ice cubes and celebrate that he is one more day closer to completing the hurdles of recovery! 🙂 Hmmmm....could it be the ice cubes that made him shiver as opposed to the pain? Kidding...sorta'! And yeah, coming off the patch znd the hospital meds could cause some shivering.

You've probably already said...which pain med is he on and how often?

STAY HERE WITH US!! We've all been where you are and we can all tell you it does get better! 🙂

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

You are stressed and tired and emotionally spent, this is the best place to come and get it off your chest.  This is not an easy journey and the first part is really hard- the diagnosis, surgery and recovery are not for the feint of heart!  And kudos for going to a different room to cry- I found the shower a good place to 'lose it' when the situation arose.

If you think he is in pain talk with your vet- sometimes the pain meds have to be adjusted.

When you feel down come here and post, and when things are going well come here and post! NEVER feel bad for posting, there is no such thing as too many posts.

You and Marley will get through this- there are good times ahead!

Ditto Sally.  You are sleep deprived in a major way.  Plus, this is a really hard and emotional experience for everyone.  The more you post, the more we can be there for you.  That is why many of us stay on the site after our tripawd's journey ends - to pay it forward and help others.  And a crash about days 3 -5 is normal.  The hospital meds wear off.  Absolutely call the vet if you see pain symptoms.  Many of us had to work with our vet to adjust meds at that time.  And hang in there!  Many dogs really perk up once the staples come out - day 10 - 14.  You are in the hardest part of recovery right now, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. . . Soon.

Everyone else has said it all so I have nothing more to add.  This is by far the toughest journey I've ever had to do and would've never made it without the support we found here.  So post away as you need to.  It WILL get easier in a short while.  Promise!  Hugs for both you and sweet Marley!  One day at a time and one step at a time.  Worrying about tomorrow only robs you of today.  Don't let it!  Give yourself a huge pat on the back.  You're doing awesome!

I can't quite figure out how to post a picture... I will have to watch the video again, or do I need permission to post a photo? Because I do not have the icon that says I can insert media.

Here are detailed instructions for adding photos to forum posts . If you don't already share photos online somewhere, you can start a free Tripawds blog any time and upload them there. Need further help? Post in the Tech Support forum and we'll be happy to help!

I will have to watch the video again...

What video?

or do I need permission to post a photo?

You have all the necessary permissions, any member can add photos to forum posts.

YaY! That's wonderful news! Hopefully with him feeling a bit better, you'll rest easier. It's tough to deal with all the stress and emotions but boy, do the clouds clear when your pup has a good day. 😊

Here's to many more good days!!
