Sounds a lot like what the TJ went through…. 3rd week seems to really slow down progress. One good sign was that I've seen TJ trying to lay on the amp'd side… that's new. He doesn't stay on it for long.. but his incision is still healing (a little puffy near the chest).
Barret is pretty sick of laying down on his right hand side. He tries to lay on the other side, but can't get comfortable.
Thanks everyone!
Still not sleeping as well since I reduced the tramadol from 4x daily to 3x daily. Next week we reduce it even more, then he comes off.. hopefully that will solve these issues but I don't know. He seems to get so sore around the 6-8 hour mark after taking a pill.
The only change I've noticed this week is that he wants more love (which is my old Bear, so glad to see him coming back). He tries to cuddle at night but can't quite get comfortable enough.. its progress though!
Barret & Heather
Barret was diagnosed with Hemangiopericytoma May 16, 2013. Front left leg/scapula/pectoral muscle was amputated on June 11, 2013 and we've never looked back. Follow our story on http://barret.t.....pawds.com/ and read my column on That Pet Blog
I love looking at his face. Something about it just mesmerizes me. Tramadol may be the reason for all this quirkiness, besides the fact he just lost a limb!
Wanting more lovin' is a good sign. Two weeks post amp is not a long time so you should see gradual improvements in the coming days and especially when the pain meds get reduced.
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
