Three-Legged Twin Sisters Dumped from a Van & Left Alone – PTS Date 9/7/11 -

Hi, I am NAUTICA. I am a sort of a strange gal with quite a story, I'll tell you some of it. I have a twin sister with the same strangeness about her, we both only have three legs for starters. Then we were out going for a ride with our people in their black van out on Forbes Rd with our other four brothers and sisters and they stopped and threw us all out onto the road. It was very scary and kinda trcky for us with only three legs working. So we got to come here to the dog pound with everybody and they are being so kind to us here.

I am a little bit sweeter than my sister, she seems to hold a bigger grudge so she has to learn to trust people again. I am a very nice size for any type of home and I love to sit on your lap and give kisses. And I do sit alot, the missing leg is a little bit of a hindrance but I get along just fine. So if you think you would like to have a very unique individual then I am your gal and then you could even adopt my sister and have two of us! Come and visit us!

NAUTICA appears to be in good health and has been given her parvo/distemper vaccine and wormed for 3 days with Pancur.

I AM SCHEDULED TO BE EUTHANIZED ON : WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH

Please call 330-424-6663 ext 1757 if you are interested in giving her a loving, forever home and a second chance at life. Our adoption fee is $100.00 CASH WHICH INCLUDES HER NEUTER, PARVO/DISTEMPER VACCINE, RABIES VACCINE, CURRENT YEARS OHIO DOG LICENSE, AND SHE WILL HAVE BEEN WORMED FOR 3 DAYS. The Ohio dog license will be honored throughout the state of Ohio until the end of that current years license.

We are open Mon.-Fri. 8am-12pm and 1 pm-4pm and Sat. 9am-12pm. WE ARE CLOSED SUNDAYS.********IF OUR HOURS WILL NOT WORK DUE TO YOUR SCHEDULE PLEASE LET US KNOW AND ONE OF OUR STAFF WILL BE HAPPY TO SET UP AN AFTER HOURS VISITATION/ADOPTION . THIS IS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY AND ONLY FOR SERIOUS INQUIRIES.

Hello, my name is NARCISSA. I came in here with my twin sister and four other of our brothers and sisters when our owners took us for a ride in their black van on Forbes Rd and dumped us all off. It was a little tricky for me and my twin because we both happen to only have three legs. I know it sounds pretty strange and we would love to tell somebody what happened to us but can't quite find the words to describe it. So here we are waiting on some good deserving people to come and adopt us. I am a little shy and need to learn that I can trust people again after what all has happened to me. I have a cute little spike hairdo that just adds to my unique everything. I would love to come home with you and just lounge around on your lap and be truly one of the family. Maybe you could come down here and meet me and give me a chance I would love to introduce you to my sister too!

Ohhh maaaaan!  It's heartbreaking not being able squeeze them into my little house.  Not to mention the boys already feel they don't get enough attention.  Argh!  I'll make them cross their paws for the girls!!

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009. He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury. Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com

Sometimes, people really suck! I can't believe someone would toss pups alongside the road, let alone put these beauties on doggie death row. That makes me both very mad and very sad. I wish I could give these girls a home… I can barely afford my current vet bills, though.

I wish you girls the best in finding a furever home!

I have no idea but I imagine that the shelter could tell you. I'm guessing that the best thing is to get a rescue group to take these girls in, hopefully that'll happen.

Just asked the person who sent us this info, if the dogs can be sponsored. She asked the shelter and is awaiting a response. Stay tuned.

Found out today that the shelter is definitely accepting sponsorships in order to keep these girls around longer as adoption candidates. here's what the lead person said. Please tell a friend.

You can definetely send sponsorships for specific dogs. If there is anyone in particular that you would like to help, like the sisters, yes, you can specify. They would love your help! Thank you so much for the thought! Dawn Croft Columbiana County Dog Warden

Just got this notice from the shelter:

"You can make a donation through Paypal using this email address: colco@yahoo.com

or mail a check to

Columbiana County Dog Pound & Adoption Center
8455 County Home Road
Lisbon, OH 44432

The shelter warden added that donations would definitely allow them to be held for a longer time. She said that neither dog seems to have worked out their balance yet which makes me think the amputations are recent.

She agreed that neither looked like they'd been done by a vet. Narcissa's is just below the knee. A vet would never leave that much bone – the dog would be catching it on everything and constantly tearing the skin. Nautica's has been done so far up that she has trouble sitting as there's little left to hold her even.
