If it weren't for our Chief Fun Officer – and his bittersweet misfortune – the Tripawds community would never have grown to be the supportive resource it is for so many pawrents facing amputation for their best friend.

For this, we salute you, Jerry G. Dawg.

Two years ago today, our hearts were shattered as we held our hero for the last time.

But today we celebrate, because in the midst of our terrible heartbreak, a new chapter unfolded for three legged dogs everywhere: Tripawd Power!

Thank you Jerry, for teaching us

. . . How to make the best of whatever situation we are faced with.

. . . For showing us what really matters in life.

. . . And for showing us how to love, forgive and be joyful, under any circumstances.

Thank you for helping us to be better humans.

We will love you forever, dawg.

It's better to hop on three legs than to limp on four.™

Thank you Jerry.

Because of you I have learned to BE MORE DOG!

And those two leggers you left behind here to carry on are doing pretty good too.

Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much Jerry!!!

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009. He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury. Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com

Bitterseet indeed. The blackness that descended my life after loosing Charites is now documented, but I will always celebrate her life. Thanks to the legacy of Jerry Dawg, the tripawd community has provided a refuge for those of us entering, continuing along, and completing this journey. Your two legged companions have created a framework that makes so much of a difference to so very many each and every day.

The paths of Jerry and Cherry crossed so very many times and shared so many locations, it is truely a shame that the did not meet. In 2005, Cherry visited the exact vet in the Yellowstone area that helped Jerry over the bridge. We were also in Yellowstone in September 2008, on our way to the Tetons, Arches, and Canyonlands. This was just a month and a half before Cherry's diagnosis. Too bad that we could not have been there to wrap our arms around all of you at that moment.

Instead, we have only met via cyber space, but the impact that Jerry's legacy has left upon our lives cannot truely be measured. We only hope that our activites, our sharing of experiences, and our sharing of the story do justice the this incredible legacy. I figure we still have so very far to go to reach this goal.

TO JERRY!

That brought a tear to Cometdog's eye.  It was beautiful. How incredibly wonderful life was for Jerry, Jim and Rene.  The video tribute was amazing and the song was so perfect!  (and I know very emotional to do)

Jerry, thank you for healing those that you didn't even meet like Comet and myself.  Without you, we would have continued to be sad and angst ridden.  Without you, we would have never learned to laugh and love being 3-legged.

Thank you for all the memories and thank you for helping us through some dark days.

I raise an ice cream cone today in your honor!

What a beautiful video. Boy, what a great life Jerry had. There are certain posts that I can't read right away, and this was one of them.

And to think, we would all be strangers if it weren't for Jerry.

Good boy, and thank you.

Beautiful. He reminds me of this poem by Robinson Jeffers…this is only a part of it, but it seem particulary true of Jerry.

I've changed my ways a little,
I can no longer run with you in the evenings along the shore,
except in a kind of dream, and you,
if you dream a little you see me there.

Thank you for everything.

Hi Jerry,

Because of you and your pawrents, I had a great extension of my happy life with my family.  Your support and personal journey exposed us to a tripawd life we never thought was possible.  All our fears, misunderstandings, and sadness were brought to an end after we found you and your support group.

Yesterday was my 2 year anniversary of crossing the Rainbow bridge, and I just wanted to say thanks… (well, I can tell you in pawrson when I see you at the all you can eat steak BBQ tonite, before the open air movie premier of "Chasing Cats, the documentary" in Doggie Heaven)

See you there!

Mate

On behalf of Matey Girl's parents, Thank you Jerry!!

Jerry continues to inspire us!

What a blessing he continues to be, to SO MANY, through all that his pawsome pawrents do!

Thanks for sharing him with us and for sharing all you learn through this journey!
