Oh you've been through a lot lately, I'm so sorry about Sweetie.

Things will get easier. You have a great support network and although many recoveries have ups and downs, you've done as much as you can to prepare for them if they happen, you'll all do great. After two nights at the vet clinic he will be so ready to come home and feeling much better.

Thanks for reading our ebooks, I'm so glad you found them useful. If you have any questions at all that aren't in there, let us know.

Can't wait to see pics! Here's a post about how to add them to the Forums.

It's amazing. Dusty has really lost use of his leg. It's in the "up" position all of the time now. He already is a hopper and is still doing stairs.
He's still happy & wagging. Wants belly pets.
This type of cancer is localized, 85% chance it will never re-appear again.
Sooo... worried, concerned, upset. I can't believe this is going to happen Monday. What Benny55 said is getting me through it.
We are not doing this to him, but for him.
Thank you all so much!!

Dusty is coming home tomorrow!!!
They say he is doing great. Eating, wagging, and almost running to go out. No crying. The vet tech said this morning that if she did not know that they amputated his leg yesterday, she would never have guessed it was so soon.
They had to remove the shoulder blade as the cancer was in the elbow and the muscle connects to the shoulder bone. My vet did not want to take the chance of leaving any cells remaining. She originally hoped to leave the shoulder blade. They are also going to biopsy a lymph node they removed.
I am so happy, and conversely nervous about what the next few weeks hold, but I know we will be okay. My biggest fear that he is a silly energetic 9 year old golden and he will really want to do everything too quickly. I know we have control over that.
I can finally breathe (until I see him). I know he is in pain, but hope and pray it is less than it was before. I do know that this pain will eventually go away and he will heal. Without the surgery, it would be perpetual. There was only one choice.
While we were at first in tears and shocked that the diagnosis was, best case he will loose his leg; we were so joyful when they said it would be best case. It's amazing what happens in only 3 weeks.
Celebrate life!

So happy to read this update!

Dusty is coming home tomorrow :)

Try to get some rest tonight....because the next couple of weeks may be a bit rough!  Dusty is still "flying high" on meds at the vet's clinic and he will have to recuperate when he gets home.

Many hugs

I know how excitingnitis to be bringing him home!! The best feeling!

Don't even look at that ole' incisin site...jst look to his eyes and hug and raise him and tell him what a good boy he is!! His tail will be wagging non-stop!

You're as prepared as you can ever be, so try and get some good rest tonight! You may not sleep so well the next few nights...or maybe like a

Pass the chocolate!

Sendinghugs!

Yay Dusty! Hoooorrraaay! I know you're gonna bounce back quickly, you and your people have a great attitude.

Don't worry about not having a shoulder blade, in my opinion aesthetically it looks cleaner than leaving the scapula (but I'm biased, mine was taken too). I'm glad your vet is so cautious.

We can't wait till you're home. Rest up kiddo, you gotta lotta fun in your future!

Happy Homecoming day Dusty!

Sounds like you have a great attitude too- good job! The best way to deal with all this crap is find the positive and focus on that. You are wall on your way to 'being more dog!"

Don't be surprised if Dusty is a little off when he comes home, it's normal here for pups to do great at the vet the first couple of days, then crash a little at home. Hopefully Dusty just cruises through recovery!!
