I saw this on Facebook.  Kleenex alert.  I know there are a lot of us who have lost furbabies thought this would help.

The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Tears are welling up in my eyes...crying

Such a true writing that goes to the heart of what we as the human guardians wrestle with when the time comes to let our fur child go.

WOW.... this just hits me in the heart .... I remember our last day / moments like it was yesterday ... I remembering telling Shelby how much I loved her and the story of how we met and all the good times we shared ... and told her to be brave as i knew she would and that I would always love her and would see her on the other side.

Thank you for sharing ... XO

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I remember reading this not too long ago, and thank you Michelle for sharing it here....... To me these are words of comfort, and I know all our pups are loved filled, and so thankful to us at the end of their journey, they have no fear, and always seem to want to comfort us at the end.......  I will never forget the last moments with any of my Lab girls, the love shared, and moment of them being free of their pain, will stay with me always....... <3

My tears are falling a lot today......

Love,

Bonnie, and all my girls....
