You have a darn good vet....taking calls on Sunday? She cares!

So US Monday?

Infection of some sort still on the table as a result of leukeran. I dunno', it jist seems somehow it could be leukeran related

The fact that all the blood worjk is so good can give yoj "some" reassurance, as well as the apetite.

Can you try posting her video again? ANY video of Jill is a good video even if she's spitting out her food.

Erica and Jill, no new insights, but just wanted to add our pawsitive thoughts and send you more hugs.  Sounds like you and the vet are all over this, and we hope the answer will be easy to resolve.  And don't forget that d-e-e-p breathing helps to take the stress levels down a bit - and that should help Jill, too.  We're going thru all kinds of stuff with Roxie (also with "perfect" test and exam results as of Thursday) and the lists of possible causes/side effects/choices is going to drive me crazier than I already am.  But that's why we're here.

Best to you and Jill, Liz and Roxie Lou

Oh Erica, I know how freaked you must be. Jill will be ok. Just keep repeating that. We've got fingers, toes and paws crossed here.

You both are in my thoughts and prayers every day.

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

When am I ever goin to learn that mom is always right! 31 years old and I still haven't realized it. Mom suggested almost immediately that the first thing we should do is stop the Leukeran for two weeks and see if this helps. I hadn't heard back from Jill's onco about this new weight loss development, just her GP. Dr HoHo wrote to me this morning (that's her onco for those of you who aren't familiar) and said:

"We can do the ultrasound here or what I suggest is going off the Leukeran for two weeks first and see if her weight goes up. "

Mother is always right.

So lets all keep our fingers crossed he puts on some ounces in the next two weeks!

Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. YAAAAAAAAAY MOM,! Mom's ARE always right, so no worries!

Happy Hannah's gonna stop by tonight (she knows you're out of town) and spend some time with Jill. She wants to show her how she's able to gain weight just by staeing at food...sometimes even just by walking by itwinker

Would you lrt Bruddha know she's coming? Don't know why, but she's scared of Brudda. Everytime I show her his picture, she tucks her tail and scampers off(well, not exactly "scampers"......more like pounding loping)big-blink

Lotsoflove!

It has been exactly one week since we stopped the Leukeran.  It's hard for me to tell if there is a difference.  She seems a bit happier - but the eating thing.  Here's the thing.  I keep her food bowl in the kitchen.  I fill the bowl on a Monday and her and Jack eat from it throughout the week.  So it was hard for me to tell if she was eating this whole time.  I THINK I saw her go into the kitchen, but I wasn't really paying attention as I didn't really realize she was losing weight.

So, I moved her food bowl into my living room area.  I've been traveling and working late all week, and when I have been home, I haven't seen her eat at ALL, but that doesnt mean she hasnt been eating during the day.  She does eat her treats though.  Last night however, we were sitting on the couch and she jumped off and I finally saw her do this:

So....is she eating now that she's been off the leukeran? or had she been eating this whole time and the weight loss is from something else? who knows....only time will tell, she gets weighed in in a week......fingers crossed!

Sooooo glad to hear from you! A week without some post from Jill, preferavly with photos attached, is like a week without sunshine!

It's hard to say avout the eating thing. At least you do have her on "film" earing now. Whether she was during the luekeran....who k ows?

Now, do't be surprised if she doesn't instantly put the weifht back on. It probably would take avout a week or so for her litte kitty system to start functining normally sgain

Brudda! Quite eating Jill's food! Are you and Happy Hannah related? You both are adorable hunks of chunk!

Good update Erica! Hope work can slow down a bit for ya'............that way we can see more picsclapclap Jill, you're living like the Princess that you areclap

Love and hugs!

Just one time in my life I would like someone to tell me that I need to GAIN weight.....
Wondering if Jill is eating reminds me of a Maggie story. One winter I was noticing that Tani was getting really fat again. Of course I yelled at my dad for over feeding snacks, and giving her lots of people food. He said he wasn't, but that was he always said. I later noticed that Mag seemed to be losing a little weight but I didn't make the connection. She was always at her spot waiting for her food bowl, and was always willing to eat snacks. One day I finally noticed that Mag finished way before Tani so I looked in the back room and saw Tani was just starting on Mag's bowl that still had about half a serving. Mystery solved!
In Maggie's case it was early stages of kidney failure (which actually wasn't diagnosed until she became incontinent). I know Jill has had lots of blood tests, how about urine samples? Hopefully what you saw was the beginning of her apatite coming back.

Glad to see she is eating.  I am hoping it was just the leukeran.  I am still saying my prayers for you

Jillys vet called today to check on her, just see how shes doing since its been one week of leukeran (I know, I am SO fortunate to have such a caring vet watching over her).  I told her it was really hard for me to tell if shes eating, but it didnt seem to me that she was eating very much, so she suggested I get some of this fancy feast that comes in gravy that cats really love (shes not the biggest fan of fancy feast, but she said whatever works, just do it).  Also, the urine culture came back - which was the original reason I brought her in last week, no sign of any bacteria.  So, not quite sure why theres red blood cells in her urine, but one thing I can tell you is that there have been no peeing incidents since shes been off the leukeran.

So, I got Jill a can of the fancy feast and the second I opened it her nose was goin a mile a minute!  She ran to the can and slurped up ever last bit of gravy in there, video below of her slurpin' away.  Problem was, she didnt touch the meat.  It's not really that weird, shes never liked soft food.  So, again, no idea if theres an eating problem here, but I'm just trying to fatten her up before next sunday's weigh in!!!!!!  And yes Rene and Karen, if my doctor told me I needed to gain weight, I'd SKIP out of his office!!!!
