Hey! Chica my boxer just had her left front leg amputated, its been 2 days since surgery. She has a large red swollen area underneath her incision, could it be the extra fluid? It's about 3" by 2", I put a warm towel on it to try and soothe it. Any suggestions?

I'm no vet, but do know this is common. You should find helpul information in the many topics discussing post amputation seromas here in the forums, and this blog post – Dog Leg Amputation Seromas: What You Need to Know. We also addressed this topic in our blog post with Five More Questions About Amputation and Coping with Bone Cancer.

Depending on the coloration and leakage these can range from nothing to worry about, where the fluid will reabsorb in time, to rare open infections. We had Jerry's fluid buildup easily drained once. Some vets even insert a tube for drainage.
