Hey! Chica my boxer just had her left front leg amputated, its been 2 days since surgery. She has a large red swollen area underneath her incision, could it be the extra fluid? It's about 3" by 2", I put a warm towel on it to try and soothe it. Any suggestions?
I'm no vet, but do know this is common. Depending on the coloration and leakage these can range from nothing to worry about, where the fluid will reabsorb in time, to rare open infections. We had Jerry's fluid buildup easily drained once. Some vets even insert a tube for drainage.
