We rescued a 6 month old puppy from an unfortunate situation. We have discovered though that he front elbow had a previous injury and after consultation with multiple vets removal of the leg will be the most beneficial outcome. She currently runs on 3legs and is quite active bud we have to keep her on pain meds as the elbow is shattered and cause discomfort.

What I'm hoping for is recommendations of vets in the Va, Md, Pa, area that some one can recommend that is more economical than our immediate area.

We have been quoted around 3000 for the surgery and that is beyond our means. When searching the forum on the cancer / amputations there were folks in our area that had quoted that their surgery ran in the lower 1000 area. We are willing to travel a reasonable distance and absorb a charge we can afford.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be great. Thanks

Hi MItch
You've come to the right place! Helping Hands in Richmond VA is where you want to go. We've had several recomendations for this affordable clinic (scroll through this discussion topic for referrals), including this one:

Read through this enthusiastic review and you'll also see that we have had the pleasure of meeting Helping Hands and can vouch that they are pawesome. That discussion has a link to an article we wrote about the clinic.

Meanwhile, thanks for adopting that pup, you're doing great and you will have a terrific life together. Lucky dawg! Be sure to post in "Beyond Cancer" to tell us all about how things are going: http://tripawds.....nd-cancer/

Oh hope you don't mind I moved your post here, this area is all about vet referrals from members.

I agree on Helping Hands, I have heard GREAT things about them.
