Announcing the Tripawds Book Exchange, just for Tripawds community members.
This book exchange is intended to be a place where Tripawds members can swap their favorite dog/animal-themed books with one another. Here's how it works:
- Use this thread to post the names of books you want to share with other members.
- Interested readers should reply to this topic, to let others know which books have been taken.
- Books can be inexpensively shipped via USPS "Media Mail", which is only a couple of bucks. Book senders can determine whether or not they want to charge for postage. If so, you must state that in your post, and work out payment arrangements with your recipient(s) later via private messaging.
If you have a stack of animal-centric books taking up too much space on your bookshelf, we hope you'll participate! Let us know if you have any questions.

The book exchange sounds like a great idea. Bruno and I are interested in acquiring The Year of Living Miraculously if it is still available.'Let me know if & how much the shipping fee is, and how pmt should be handled.
I taught elementary school for a few yrs and am sure that I have a few books that I can gift to whomever is interested as well; (it'll finally provide an incentive to rummaging through tubs and tubs which house approx 800 books. (I've been meaning to tackle the daunting task for the last 3.5 yrs so that I can donate 95% once I have carefully selected the few I want to hold on to. )
I will aim at providing the titles by next weeks end.
I look forward to receiving whichever title you have available and to contributing to this novel idea
Thanks,
Maricela & Bruno

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

I have a copy of The Last Walk: Reflections on Our pets at the End of Their Lives by Jessica Pierce. This is a great book for those who have never gone through losing a dog (or other pet) before or who have struggled mightily with the question of "when is the right time". The author weaves the story of her own dog, Odysseyus, and their last year or so together, with her thoughts and research on animal dying and death. She covers how dogs experience pain, how they age, animal hospice, the concept of euthanasia, measuring quality of life, and more. For me, I found the book to be a little remedial, and personally, I think the author held on to Ody too long, but I think this book has something for everyone.
PM me with your address if you would like to read this book!
Woohoo! Tripawds Rule!

I have Amazon prime. I know that some books are shareable. I would be happy to share some e-books if anybody is interested. I will go into my library and make a list to post. If a book i post is not shareable, most have at least a free introductory to give you a chance to try it. Gobi is one of my faves (thanks Hattie). I just finished a book on canine cognitive dementia that was awesome.
I haven't "shared' a book in a while, but i would be happy to go back and learn the steps for anybody interested.

Easier for me to find my library from the PC than from the note. Keeping in line with pet oriented books, stories, etc... Here are a few I have found:
A Dog's Purpose, by W. Bruce Cameron
Finding Gobi: A little dog with a very big heart, by Dion Leonard
Remember Me? Loving and caring for a dog with cognitive dysfunction, by Eileen Anderson
Someone to Look Up To: A dog's search for love and understanding, by Jean Gill
You are welcome to PM me if interested in sharing, I am a Kindle fanatic so all of my content is digital.
