We just heard from Xena's people who unfortunately lost their beloved Rottie after Loving Life On Three Legs for 2 1/2 years. We first wrote about Xena and how the Solvit big dog stroller helped her get around after dual cruciate surgeries in June, 2009. Here is what they had to say...
Unfortunately, we lost Xena on August 18th, 2010. She was 12 years old. Our hearts are still broken and we miss her every single day. We spent every minute with her making certain that her remaining time with us was comfortable and pain free.
Xena lived over 2 1/2 years as a tripawd. Her stroller gave her the opportunity to truly enjoy her life. There was no place she couldn't go. She tired quickly because of her age, but when she needed the rest, in the stroller she went. She really loved it and we loved being able to take her for walks around NYC and through Central Park. It was one of the most important purchases we ever made for her. Now that Xena is gone, we would like to (with your help) offer the stroller to another senior tripawd. It is the large size stroller, so finding a larger dog would be appropriate. The only stipulations we have are: 1) that they pick it up from us or just pay the shipping if they are not close by. And 2) that they take care of the stroller, keeping it clean and in good repair and offer it forward in the same way when the time comes. Hopefully we can help more than a few senior tripawds with this stroller. Keeping it in the community so to speak.
I promise you, it will enhance the lives of any senior tripawd just as it did for Xena. The stroller is very lightweight, it disassembles and folds for easy storage or transport and can even be used as a trailer on your bicycle. I have attached a few photos. Please let us know what you think of this idea. We would love to be able to help other tripawds and their people enjoy more of their lives together.
Sincerely, Brian Veit

I have a stroller - my quadpawd is using it more than Miss Maggie Agilecowdog at the moment as Haley has a shoulder injury. I have to say what an absolute LOVELY gesture/offer these people are offering! I can attest to how nice a stroller is to get a dog around that can't motor along on their own, for whatever reason...
Tracy, Maggie's Mom
Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09
Maggie lost her battle with kidney disease on 8-24-13
What a generous offer. It brought tears to my eyes.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
An AMAZING offer. I hope hope hope we can be the next proud owners of the Xena 2010 (the apt new name of the stroller, don't you think?)
While Indi is only semi-senior, at 8 1/2, I don't have a car, so I can no longer take her places with me and it is stressful.
I bike commute and dream of hooking Indi girl up to the bike to take her everywhere I can! To the office. To Fernhill dog park in North East Portland. To Whole Foods....
We would love the stroller and pass it on when we must.
Can't wait to hear back from Brian!
Indi the Saint Bernard mix had her front left leg amputated on August 31, 2010. She crossed over the rainbow bridge on December 17, 2010, because of a spinal injury, not related to cancer.
Most pawesome. The support of this community continues to amaze us. Thank you once again!
