Dr. Katherine Goldberg founded Whole Animal with a mission to provide home-based, bond-centered veterinary care with a focus on geriatric support and hospice services. It is Dr. Goldberg’s belief that our relationships with animals are particularly poignant during end of life care. Her belief in the importance of whole body care rather than symptom-specific treatment is an underlying philosophy of the entire practice.

She is the founder of the Veterinary Society for Hospice & Palliative Care with her close friend & colleague, Dr. Page Yaxley of Michigan State University. This is the only professional veterinary organization dedicated to the advancement of hospice & palliative care, and is laying the groundwork for recognition as a boarded veterinary specialty.

Join us as we discuss end-of-life decision-making and care for animals, a critical topic that all pet parents will face at some point. Dr. Goldberg will explain what hospice care is and how it can help make this emotional time easier for you and your animal companion.

THIS IS SUCH A GREAT, GREAT CONCEPT and so badly needed!

I'll be at work, but is it possible for you to include in your dialogue discussions about the "possibility"...extremely remote as it is..... to ever be able to have euthanasia done by the pet's family member at home?

I know many reasons why he CANNOT happen...but I'd love tosee the focus switch to why it COULD happen.

My Mickey Motto's "time" came over Memorial Day week-end somewhat abrubtly. Fortnately my beloved Vet came to the house but was not able to get there 'til the next day. Frtu ately, I was able to keep him co fortable and tere was no real pain volved (liver faiure). Had I had the means...medication or whatever......I wold have helped him crossover

Thank you fr providi g us with such invaluable infrmation on this miraculous site!

Gratefully,

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

That is a great question Sally and one that I've wondered too, we'll be sure to ask. And you can definitely listen to the podcast when it's on the web to hear her answer.

Just a reminder, today's show about veterinary hospice care is today at 6pm Eastern. It's not an easy subject but one that we will all face at some point. This show promises to be very educational, hope to see you there!
