I'm in SW suburbs, but Otis is in chemo so not allowed to be around other dogs as per his oncologist.
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Oh gosh! Hope you can get a gathering together! Nothing more fun than a Tripawd Pawty!! It's like reconnecting with old friends on a Sould deep level! Unbelievable bonds areformed!
Hadn't heard about dogs not being around other dogs while in chemo, interesting. Guess it's an immune precaution thing? Double check with yiur Onco if it really is "written in stone" because this is such a fun time!!! Three people or ten people (and dogs of course) ....sooo much fun!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
We're in southeast Michigan - a few hours away, but maybe could make it!

how do we do this?
Just what you are doing! See how many responses you get here and where people are located. Then find a park or gathering place that everyone can get to. The hardest part is usually agreeing on a date!
Our Nor Cal group has been meeting twice a year or so for 7 or 8 years! Most of our original Tripawds are Angels now, but we still get together with our existing packs. And we usually get to meet at least one new Tripawd!
Once you agree on a date, time and location start spreading the word! Tripawd HQ can post on their FB page (if you remind them ).
It is so amazing to meet in person some of the people and Tripawds you meet on this site. Good luck!

Yes, oncologist concerned that chemo could suppress his immune system, making him more vulnerable. We also were not able to get the second shot for the new canine flu - he had the fracture 5 days before his appointment.

Absolutely let me know. I would come even if Otis couldn't, and maybe Tess could be an honorary tri-paws for the day. Chemo #3 tomorrow.

This September we will have a booth at the Puppy Up Walk in Aurora, maybe you could all meet there?

September 17, in Wheaton for the Puppy Up Foundation? I'll be there, and hopefully Otis too. Will we have a walking team?

I would absolutely be up for this! Let's make this happen!
Paula and Nitro
Nitro 11 1/2 yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms. Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"
